Silver-leafed Nightshade?(Solanum elaeagnifolium)

Thank you...it's a beautiful flower, but not a good garden plant, right?

I have them in my garden but I have a wild garden and I have different ideas about what makes a good plant than a lot of people. I don't water and it doesn't mind. . It comes and goes as it pleases. I do not find that it is a thug. I like the color of its leaves.

I see it along the roadsides and in the field across the street and wonder why someone doesn't work on developing it for gardens since it is so drought tolerant and blooms in the very hottest months. It seems to bloom the heaviest in August.

And it does not mind bad soil.

Well it has spines on the undersides of the leaves and its poisonous so it would take a dedicated hybridizer to turn into something marketable.

Lots of things are poisonous. It does make berries and that might be tempting for little ones running around. A spine never stopped me from liking a plant.
