I am saving some of my infammous "Monster Cherry Tomato" seeds. The main stems of those plants got well over 8-9 feet tall. They currently have 4-5 branches each that are probably at least 5-6 feet long. Quite good producers and VERY tasty! The taste of them is the main reason i'm keeping the seeds. I confirmed that they are not Hybrids. I took a handful of seeds out of one I picked about 6-7 weeks ago and grew them. The plants are current over 3 feet tall and already fruiting! Let me know if you want some of the seeds. I'd be happy to send you some, just mail me a SASBE. Someone on one of the forums said they needed more germination time & also more growing to maturity time. =========================================================================================== Actually that's not the case. The bucket is up in the air and can quickly get to the air (ambient) temperature. This is always warmer than the ground and means the roots are in summer mode quickly. Being in a bucket has nothing to do with germination. It does, however, affect fruit ripening - again due to the higher "soil" temperature. I would recommend filling the bucket to about 3/4 full. This leaves room for watering from the top. I would also recommend cutting a couple holes in the sides and putting the plants there (works just like one of those terracotta strawberry pots). Be prepared to not miss a day of watering, especially after the plant gets a full load of foliage on. Also be ready to feed it about every two to three weeds with no better than "Half Strength" fertilizer - such as Miracle Grow for Tomatoes. It's a novelty or conversation piece, but you can get a lot of cherry or salad-sized fruits. It's just a lot of work. Ted

I love your bathroom. My kids who live in a similar house to yours did a similar thing. They used fruitwood. I love your cherry. It lends a richness to it that is unsurpassed by any other texture. I love prints in the bathroom. I took a mirror out (had three) so I could put a large print over my vanity area. I used "September Morn," which I think is quite bath-friendly. In the "water closet" area, I used a print from Grace Darling in the famous boat struggle.

Ruth, As I said, I will survive if I do not receive a gift basket or anything else for that matter...LOL! Very kind of you to offer me anything off your list.....but you need not do that. Nikki (cinnie..), our September host, wanted to send me something and I told her no..... it really does not take care of the problem. I do feel when someone signs up for a swap, RR closed or not, they should honor their commitment. I also know and understand that things come up, unfortunate circumstances arise and the swap can not be carried out/they need to drop out. In that case, I am 100% cool with someone backing out....but they better communicate that to their partner and the group. This matter of people sending their swap several weeks late....or not at all.....no communication, one way or the other.....disappearing.....and then, as in your case, not receiving what you were supposed to receive is BS. Total BS!! Ruth, I am curious, did you receive any explanation from Wild Hair Mavens as to why you were shorted 3 of the items you were supposed to receive????
