I thank everyone for their contribution. I have no room for propagating plants anymore. Just enough for a few seedlings over winter. I may contact the Krispy Kreme manager and ask what firm does their landscaping to see if I can locate the source for this Hawaiian dwarf Oyster plant. Toni: Thanks for the URL for Peppers. I'd never heard of them before and they have several "houseplants" that interest me for outdoors. There just isn't much literature regarding using them outdoors in a southern landscape. My Sansevierias seem to take anything I throw at them, but my Clivia is a burned up mess after its sheltered position outside was destroyed when we lost a tree. I'm thinking a dark cave maybe the only place it likes it outside...Sorry that was OT. Thanks again to everyone for all your help....Maryl

I think you've made a nice start on your landscape. My advice is not to look at it as a project that must be done before moving on to the next one. Plants and soil take way too much time to change. Fertilize and water routinely and it will start to become even better. Take a 5 year view of the work rather than all this fall. I've found it is much less expensive to let mother nature work with you. I'd recommend 2 projects, then move on to painting or whatever and then come back next year for more. Your side area I would simply lay a thick bed of mulch and let it sit for a year. The change in the soil underneath will be surprising and you can come back later with some flowers and shrubs that love shade. A step further would be to add compost under the mulch and some stepping stones in the middle. I'd do pretty much the same with the back slope area except add some ground cover that works well in your area.

The barren side, next to the garage, I think, might best be improved a by: 1) covering the area with some stone and a pathway (be creative with size and texture), and 2) making a raised bed that would leave a 3 foot opening next to the pavement and the edge of the building ( for access) and angle to the property line.

I researched curly top virus (CTV) and the sysmptoms of my plants don't match the symtoms of CTV. In a case of CTV leaves curl upward but my plants are curling under. My plants have none of the other symptoms. If anyone is interested in reading about CTV here is the website I used. It's owned by New Mexico State University. http://cahe.nmsu.edu/pubs/_h/h-106.html After checking my whole garden it looks like my spinach is the only crop aflicted. My spinach has also gone to seed in the last two or three days so I don't know if it related. None of the leaves have any spots, bumps, powder, slime, etc . on them. Maybe I'm just missing the aphids? Ninja aphids? Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone else have an idea?
