My daughters yard is being over run with bind weed. I need to find something I can use that won't harm her two puppies. Any help anyone can give would be great.

I'd just get a garden fork and start digging. The area in the picture would take about 10 minutes. Good exercise and no poisons involved. Remove all the roots of things you don't want. Then you'll need to fill the space, either with desirable plants or mulch or both. If you don't the weeds will be back. Once you've done a thorough work through little and often will keep on top of the weeds.

Crabgrass. Kill it before it seeds with Weed B Gon with Crabgrass Control--it may take two applications to take out some of that extremely well-developed crabgrass in there. Assuming you have a northern lawn (fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, and/or ryegrass), which it looks like you do. To help stop the stuff from growing in the future, keep it up with the weed control in spring. Check the bag to see how long it lasts--some of them drop out during the summer and should be reapplied since crabgrass will sprout any time soil temperatures are above sixty or so. It's August and I still have the stuff coming up in the gardens. Also check the bag to assure that it works against crabgrass. If not, Dimension 0-0-7 or Barricade are great choices. Mowing your lawn as long as you can stand it, and mowing again before it reaches 1.5 times its mow height, is one of the best ways to confound weeds. They get choked out, shaded out, and are generally unhappy. It also increases the health of your grass. The standard recommendation for mow height is "at least three inches." Watering can also be a problem, so if you can let us know how (or if) you water, that'd be great.

ANY weed is easier to remove when the soil is moist..........chickweed is no different! "Weed when it's wet. Weeds are much easier to pull when the ground is wet.
