Use RoundUp. It will kill what it touches and only what it touches.

Cover the daffodils, the crepe should be fine.

The crape won't be fine if RoundUp gets on the foliage. It won't kill the plant, but it will damage the limbs it touches.
It's best to paint the RoundUp on the poison ivy leaves with a throw-away foam or cheap bristle brush. If you are known to be allergic to poison ivy, just let it dry up and eventually it will disintegrate. If you are brave, wear long sleeves and use throw-away gloves and pull or cut away the dead foliage in a week or ten days.

I am VERY allergic to poison ivy. Round Up works. And something else you can try that I found by to be the easiest way for me to eliminate poison ivy, and other persistent deep rooted plants as well, is to cut the main stem off near the ground with long handled loopers and put a drop or two of BROAD LEAF weed killer full strength on the stump. "Broad leaf" means it is for herbaceous plants and doesn't work on grass, etc. It's method is different from Round Up.

You can just put a stick in the container of broad leaf weed killer and let it drip off onto the stump while the cut is fresh. You can very carefully remove the vine part you have separated from the root with a long handled rake or let someone else not so allergic do the whole job.

It's my understanding that the broad leaf weed killer is a highly concentrated plant hormone that instructs the plant to grow faster than it can so it dies trying. It's my impression that it's less toxic than RoundUp. At least that is what I heard from one of the radio guru's years ago. Maybe someone on here can tell us whether it's true. I haven't researched it myself.

This has always worked well for me and doesn't endanger the plants you want to keep that are growing near by. If I accidentally get a drop on a valued plant I just remove that leaf before it has a chance to be absorbed by the plant.

This also works well on little tree sprouts like hackberry and pecan which have deep roots and are hard to pull. I carry the little yellow spray bottle of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" filled with broad leaf weed killer in my garden holster to have handy for such jobs.

Yes, I'm allergic to poison ivy too, so I'd say let someone else do the dirty work who isn't allergic to the stuff. The advice above sounds great!

The man who is the groundskeeper at our church isn't allergic and I told him about some poison ivy growing close to one of the entrances. He would just go over and pull it out with his bare hands!

Pulling or even touching poison ivy with your bare hands, or letting it touch your skin anywhere, isn't the greatest idea in the world. It's kinda like taking a tiger by the tail, because people who have never had any sensitivity to poison ivy or poison oak can develop one at any age- 25 or 90- and it's tempting fate to take unnecessary chances.

My problem is not poison ivy, but poison oak and sumac.
I am no t allery prone to poison ivy but deadly allergic to poisons oak and sumac,it is growing w/ glee in my privet hedge,will round up work on these two menaces?

I ended up painting the Roundup on with a sponge type paintbrush. I haven't been over there since Saturday to see how it's working.

I had some around my trees and I had some pvc pipe about 12 inches long. I cut the poisen ivy down and held it w/my clippers till I thew it in the garbage. Then I took the hollow round pvc and stuck it in the ground with the stem of the poisen ivy inside it, then I sprayed the round up into the pipe. I let it sit for about a week and when I pulled the pvc out the dirt and the ivy was still inside the pipe, and I just tapped it into the garbage. Worked for me!

I handled mine in long sleeves, long pants, full shoes and double plastic gloves, no gaps of skin showing.....pulled it up, put it in garbage back with top set of gloves, and double bagged that to save any garbage personnel from being exposed. Then I stripped down inside my garage and dumped all clothing directly into the washer (I left a robe nearby), and went inside to shower. I am very allergic, so I can't be too careful (but I have kids, so I couldn't leave it, either). Be aware that even if your Roundup works (and it may not...sometimes it takes the stronger stuff) that the dead plant and leaves still contain the oil people react to. If you handle it, you'll still get the rash. Be careful!

I'm very allergic to poison ivy & poison oak. It gets me if I'm anywhere near it. I don't have to touch it. Three summers ago I even got it in my throat & mouth.
When I've had it crop up, I hire a lawn person to remove it. I don't mess with it at all.
