Are you direct sowing outside or are you transplanting? I find Morning Glories very easy or very difficult to grow and to be honest I am not sure why it's usually easy, but sometimes they just won't live. My best success comes from soaking the seeds for 24 hours and then direct seeding into the ground. My second best success comes from 24 hour soak and then germinate indoors, but I transplant into the ground as soon as a true leaf has emerged, I do not wait for the plants to develop a leader. I have tried them once in a container and they all died (don't know why), but in the ground they usually do fine. The moral here is if growing them one way doesn't work out, try it another way. Before too long they will 'take' and after that they grow like crazy.

I wonder if you didn't get a stray seed of a different type of morning glory in your package. I'm growing a fancy type this year, rather star-shaped double purple blooms with white edges. The cotyledons looked fairly usual, except more yellow green than my volunteer Grandpa Otts or the Flying Saucers I started. But all the leaves on this particular type are wrinkly at first and shaped more like maple leaves. Hard to say about yours, but maybe it's just a different type, not sick.
