Yes Jolana, I read about that rose and went on a hunt for it a few years ago. I found it at a grocery store of all places. For not getting enough sun, it sure gave me some nice flowers!
This time, I saw one way back in Jan, and told myself to remember it so I could go get it later and then forgot. :(

I have one in my front bed and love the smell and the beauty of this rose.

There is a church on Highway 10 in Hurst that has a hugh plant sale every year about this time of year. They usually have them for $10.00. I bought one last year.
I'll watch for it and post here again if they have them this year.

melvalena, I drove past today and the sign said the plant sale is from the 15th until the 24th.
They have some stuff out already.
It's North Pointe Babtist Church, just west of Bell Helicopter.
They usually have a lot of roses.

Jolana!!! Lucky you!! I may have to drive down for a visit! I've checked 2 Lowe's close to me and neither had them. They had plenty of Knock Outs though.

Susan, I checked Northhaven on line and it was on their list. I called but they're all sold out. :(
She did call back and tell me they have 6 Gemini that are very similar.

After checking it out on line I've decided I'd rather hold out for the Dbl Delight. Fragrance is the reason. Gemini is said to be slightly fragrant.. where as the DBL Delight is very fragrant.

So, if anyone in DFW sees this rose, please give me a shout! Other wise its road trip time!

They don't have any Double Delight this year.
They do have Double Knock Out for $12.00,
good size Hostas for $5.00
Oragami Columbine white, yellow, red/white, and blue/white for $3.00
and lots of other stuff including trees and veggies

I wish I'd had some cash on me at the time.. I would have picked up a few of their plants while I was there.

I hit every nursery and Lowes between Flower Mound and Hurst and back. I decided to take the longer route home from Grapevine (after stopping at Blooming Colors) so I could hit that Lowes and Mikes. I'm so glad I did!

I found them at Mike's!! There are plenty left for anyone else who may have decided to try them. They also had lots of other really nice roses. The guy told me they hadn't been able to get most of their roses in 7 years.

One thing he said still bothers me some....he said they are climbing roses... Everything I've read said they're a bush..
so I did some digging...
seems there is a version that climbs..

All the tags say its a bush, 3' to 5' and 2' to 3' wide, so they must be the shrub version and the garden center put them in the wrong area by placing them with the climbers.

I have a hold tag on a Julia Child at Booming colors. I think I'm going to really like that one too.

I have a Julia Child and I love it. I just got it last Spring and it bloomed really well, during the 108-112 temps no blooming but hung in there, now it is blooming away and still very small

Gail, you, Carrie, and I will have to take a road trip to Chamblee's nursery in Tyler - I may stop out there on my next "staycation" in Quitman. (although I have some Oso Easy roses on order from the co-op that should be here soon...) Chamblee's has roses at a very reasonable price... I'm quite fond of the Buck roses - I've bought a couple at Redenta's (Folksinger and Winter Sunset).

OH Man!! I've avoided all those special rose places on purpose! I'm not really a rose person. :) I like the smelly ones, on my tables... but I'm not a fan of the plant. I just don't think they're pretty. But for the right flower I'll put up with the plant. :) And camouflage it as best I can!

Susan, both of the ones I had at the other house were bushes also. I was so surprised when that guy said they were climbers. I think he doesn't realize the shipment they got in were actually shrubs and not the climbers he think they are. At least that is what I'm telling myself.
The tags on them clearly indicate they are shrubs. Doesn't say climber anywhere on them.

I was going to suggest Mike's. I haven't been there this year yet, but love the place.
My DD is a shrub.
I like the smelly ones also.
I only buy them if they are rebloomers and fragrant.
I did buy 2 Double Knockout's yesterday because they bloom all summer.
Do you have Memorial Day? The fragrance is very strong.

Ruth!! I have a list I carried with me yesterday, its all smelly re bloomers taken from a list of roses that are supposed to do well in Dallas. (found it on the rose forum)

I crossed a few off when I found them and saw how small the blooms were.

Home Depot has some here in Arlington. It looks like a 2 gallon generic black pot. They are sitting on pallets in the parking lot without a price sign. The plants look good, just a bit droopy. My guess there is a promotion and the price is good.

These are the ones I have now that I love.
I used to carry a list also until I decided my yard is too small and shady for roses. I still want a few more.
I'd like an orange, yellow and maybe another red.
I've lost about 10 or 12 over the years due to lots of shade, clay and drought.

I usually lurk on the Rose Forum if I'm interested in a certain rose, to see what I can learn about it.

Cynthia, I just got back from running around and saw Home Depot had some Double Delights for around $9 I might just go back and pick up a few more. :)

ruthz...It's not a pure orange, but I love Lafter. It's technically a HT but it is every bit as tough as Knockout in my garden. It laughs at black spot. And the fragrance is divine! In fact, I was not going to have any more roses Period! But I caught a whif and she's been here for about 3 years now. She's (I don't know why she's a she!) orange and pink with a classic antique rose form.
