Goose Creek was my favorite tomato this year. (That's right, "was." The heat has ended our spring growing season already.) It was not particularly productive--maybe about 12 tomatoes from one plant--but we have a short season here and I planted out the GC a little late. I will take cuttings and give it another whirl for the fall season.

Beautiful red, slightly flattened globes. Excellent texture and taste. I most definitely saved seeds for next year!

They were my favorite last season, and really pulled my honker!!

They are the top selling tomato plant at Laurels in S. California. Jimmy Williams reportedly has a Patent on this variety so no seeds can be sold nor bartered. Seeds can freely be sent out as long as no compensation is expected. That's how I have been operating. Send me an email if you would like a few to try. Here are my pair of Goose Creek this season. One is with "New" Tomato-tone, and the other is with "Old" Tomato-tone, as a personal experiment. Can you guess which is which??

I harvested my first few GC a few days ago. I got some seeds from Ray and was planning on planting them for a fall crop since it was pretty late for me to start seeds when I got them. My curiosity got the better of me and I planted one plant. It has grown incredibly fast and has caught and surpassed some of my other plants that were started about 2 months earlier. I thought they tasted great and the plants seem to show no signs of slowing down even with the high temps and humidity and about a month of near daily rain. Many of my other plants seem to be about done.

Goosecreek. I have seen that name before. Many yarran ago I had a t-shirt that said "Whereinthehellis Goosecreek, SC?" (My second favorite shirt, the first said "When I die I'm going to heaven because I have already been to Charleston." I sure did miss the mountains and open range of Idaho. I did make a very good friend there, we are still in touch.)

Hmmm, which plant is the old tomato tone and which is the new one? Foliage thicker and lusher at the top of the left one. It also appears to have more and larger fruit peeking out of that foliage. Old tomato tone is generally no longer available, sooooooo, obviously the old tomato tone is on the left.

I had saved seed, six starts germinated, 2 given away (1 of which died), 2 got some foliage disease that did not match anything that I could find on the net, 2 survived but 1 was reduced to a stem with no growing tip (suckers are growing out of stem now), 1 doing ok and in the garden but given what the other 5 did I am worried that this one was from a stray seed...

I've been to Goose Creek, SC, and it's inland, about 20 miles north of Charleston. The Naval Nuclear Power Training Command is there.
Perhaps a few seeds for this answer, too?

I live 10 minutes from Goose Creek and it is definitely inland. I do like the story behind that tomato, though.
