Best for Garden vs Best for Composting

Red worms seem to be the hands down favorite for composting. But I don't see much about which worms might be best for improving your garden soil. Reading Kelly's treatise I'm wondering if an endogeic type might be better than epigeic? Is there a source for edogeic worms?

And if epigeic are as good for garden soil as they are for composting, how might amynthas gracillus compare to eisenia fetida?

And finally, I only heard back from Bendback50 that Pheretima Hawayana are the same as Amynthas Gracillus. Is this the general opinion?
