In the South, what preventatives do you apply?

Hi, Everyone;

I wanted to find out from some of you more experienced gardeners what types of preventatives you apply to protect your tomato plants. After looking at pictures, I've concluded that I am losing my only two BrandyBoy plants to late blight (sniff, sniff- they are big favorites of mine). So, next year, I would like to know what to apply and when. I like organic, so I am much more likely to use an organic treatment than one that isn't.

I have also concluded part of my problem is occasionally spraying my plants w/ the hose (most of my watering is done w/ soaker hoses), so I will not do that anymore.

One other question, would it do any good to remove all the mulch in the fall and start w/ new mulch? And, if so, should I leave the soil bare for a period of time before spreading new mulch?

Thank you for your help. Brandy
