I'm considering a vine to climb a section of wood lattice that's used to provide privacy around a hot tub. The lattice is about 18 inches away from the edge of the hot tub.

Eventually, the lattice will be removed as privacy will be provided by a cedar hedge which is currently growing around the property line. Because the lattice (and vine) will eventually be removed in the long term plan, I'll want something that won't be too difficult to eradicate later. The long term removal plan is probably 7 years away.

From the vine, I'd like privacy coverage (preferably year-round, but that's difficult to do in Ontario) sooner rather than later. Such a shame that outdoor nudity requires these cautions in suburbia.

The growing conditions - for the vine (not the bacteria in the hot tub) - would be north facing, but hot sun is directly overhead mid day until about 3pm, then increasing shade thereafter.

Here are the choices. Please pick your favourite. For full marks, discuss.

a) Dutchman's Pipe

b) Climbing Hydrangea

c) Boston Ivy
