Christy ,,, I would say yes. Look at the first photo of the link Im sending you. Get you a ladybug and put it on your honeysuckle they love aphids and will clean it up. I had them last year on a subrotunda and I was about ready to pull it up then I saw this ladybug on it and in a few days they were all gone . It turned out to be the largest plant in my garden. I am growing, successfully, all the following: L. sempervirens 'Alabama Crimson', 'John Clayton', and 'Magnificum', and have started L. 'Mandarin', L. periclymenum, tragophylla and tellmanniana. All are doing well and would serve to help cover a cedar fence. I have posted, a year or so ago, that aphids are herded by ants like we herd cattle. Get rid of the ants and the aphids will probably go also. Got rid of infestation on L. s. 'Alabama Crimson' by putting crystals meant to get rid of ant colonies at base of plant. Diazamine, I think, from hardware store, meant to put around outside of house foundation. Applied once 5 years ago. No aphids on any plants since. My plants came from Forest Farm in Pacific northwest and Gardenvines in PA, but Canadians are sophisticated gardeners so you might find sorts locally.

Dawn -- Just this morning I posted the same question on the hummingbird garden forum and I'm in St. Louis too. I hate to spray it because I garden for and feed the hummingbirds and this is one of their favorite plants. But I hate the thought of losing the honeysuckle. I do have a lot of rocks around my garden and noticed this spring that I had several ant hills under the rocks so I guess I'll start with spraying the ant hills.
