WANTED: wanted: ft. worth plant swap - 10/30/10

I just wanted to say that we had such a great time on Saturday. Thanks to everyone that traded with me and my son. We really appreciate your generosity. I took some pictures and if I can figure out how to post them, I will do so. Thanks again Sylvia and Brenda and Rueben for organizing the swap and cooking. Till the Spring!!!

Hmmm, I forgot about cannas & irises & water plants. They are a pain to pot up, take a huge pot & a ton of soil, & they always need to be "un-potted" to go in the garden, so let's amend the rules: If it's something that's totally insane to put in a pot... it doesn't have to be in a pot.

Went to last year's swap - it's lots of fun. I plan to return again this year and bring 2 friends along. I don't know what type plants they will be bringing but I can bring: 1. wood fern 2. Hyacinth Bean starter plants (4") 3. dark purple Iris 4. Umbrella Plant cuttings 5. Regular Nandina starter plants (2 ltr size) 6. Black Eye Susan (4") Here's my wish list: 1. any trailing plant for pots. 2. anyone have river fern? 3. Castor Bean seeds/plants 4. Coreopsis 5. Columbine 6. lighter color iris to blend w/dark purple ones 7. any of the ornamental grasses except Pampas looking forward to the 28th Dorothy B.

Sylvia : Papi Amarillis, lavender mint, pink rose For me : Yellow bird of paradise, culinary sage, lemon mint, schoolhouse lily if you have any extra Phyllis : Varigated ginger, lavender mint, lemongrass For me : Flame acanthus, sabrina hollyhocks, purple butterfly bush Seamommy : Orchid For me : Pots and purple salvia will be great Fortunegardener : Rose and mexican mint marigold For me : Texas Star Hibiscus, garden phlox preferred or sedum is fine element : 3 gallon potted Vitex seedling do you have any potted plants on my wish list?? or kombucha baby or several 3 gallon or large pots?? barkingdogwoods : I have a large hawaiian crinum spiderlily, multiplying onions, elephant garlic For me : rooted fig cuttings, corona de cristo passionflower I will have some extras for the orphan table for sure. It really was a great swap. Ruben and I enjoy the swaps so much and feel like we bring home so much more than what we do is worth. Thank you everyone. I'm hoping the weather forecast is right and we get some rain tomorrow so I can finish getting everything in the ground. Cheryl - the tadpoles seem to be happy in the pond. Thanks so much. I hope someone posts pics.

I had a lot of fun as always, wish we could do it every month. Just kidding...I'm always so tired afterwards it's usually weeks before I get my new plants potted or in the ground. Getting ready for the swap is almost as much fun as the actual swap. It sure is a pleasure to spend a few hours just talking to other gardeners. Yeah, I had a ball too! Cheryl
