I attended this years mango festival back in July at Fairchilds botanical garden and while I was there I picked up a few mangos which I had never tried before. One mango inparticular was called an "ivory" which was light yellow/beige where ripe, thin and slender resembling the asian cultivars, fiberless, flavor was mild and sweet with hints of vanilla. Needless to say i really really enjoyed it but unfortunately I cannot find any information on the web about this cultivar and my go to purveyors Excalibur, and zill's have no info as well! I planted two seeds and they are very thin and look in-between a poly/di-embryonic seed. I am under the impression that if the seed is a poly embryonic seed then if you plant it maybe in 10 years when it finally fruits it will be true to type?

Anyways, any information regarding where I might be able to obtain a "ivory" mango would be much appreciated.

Check out these threads. Yes, it is feasible to get a clone from planting the seed....but this is not guaranteed unless you know for sure that the seedling plant that grows from the seed is not a sexual reproduction. You have good odds, but they are not 100%. I purchased a grafted tree from Jeff Hagen. Not sure if he has any more, but I know he can graft one for you.

If you don't want them, offer them for sale on CL or ebay. Someone might want them and do the work of digging them out as a bonus. Just list them as Buxus (boxwood) and let people decide for themselves which they might be. Life's too short to grow plants you don't love, no matter what they are worth. ;o)

Some of the main stalks will start growing new leaves and some might be too far gone. You'll know in a few weeks. New suckers should arrive too, even from the ones totally killed above ground. I leave the dead leaves on mine for now, in case we get more damaging cold weather. If you see new leaves starting to sprout that were cold damaged at the top, you might want to cut a little of the damage away to help the new leaves unfurl. If one of your main stalks was just getting ready to fruit and the cold stopped it, that one is probably done. I whacked a couple of mine down today because of that. They wont put out new leaves, nor will they continue to set fruit. So you might as well start them on their way to compost.

Thanks all for your feedback. After an all day search and with a lot of help from some experts on network54 I have uncovered the mystery. It appears it is the photo magic software I use to resize before uploading to photobucket. It always worked fine for my canon S5 but it doesnt work correctly with my canon SX10 strange deal, I had to change things around for my vids too with this camera where I didnt have to with the S5.

Hi jeff ...if you are able to do an ivory graft i would love to purchase one also. I have also had no luck finding it commercially.
Also can you do a multi graft mango?

OK. It depends on whether I can get budwood this year. Next time I head down to Homestead I'll grab some more budwood. I'll keep you updated.

I do graft multi-graft trees, but not many of them and they tend to sell fast. I think I still have one that's 1/2 carrie, 1/2 cogshall.

Hi Jeff - It would be great if you could do a custom multi-graft tree or two, if you were able to.

Have you ever done 3 varieties on one tree, or does this become impractical as far as time involved and success rates?

I've done triple grafted trees. Success is near 100%. The bigger problem is finding big enough rootstock. Email me if you are looking for one. Where are you located?
