Suggestions for all the new people:

Bring a few cardboard boxes to put your plants in.

Knowing the lay out of the place I suggest anyone bringing plants that need to be kept shaded also bring a card table, some chairs, large laundry basket or something to place over them, A large sheet thrown over that should shield them from the blazing sun but you'll need to anchor it so that the wind doesn't carry it off.

Bring your own drinks, and snacks to share if you'd like.

We do have access to the club house for those who may need or want to get indoors for a bit.

How our door prize works:
anyone who wants to participate brings something garden or outdoor patio related.. but not a plant. You can put these in a gift bag or wrap them or not.. its up to you. It can be used or brand new. $ limit around $10.

Be sure to put a gift tag with YOUR OWN NAME on it on the item.

We place these on a table and when its time we'll pull off all the gift tags and use them to draw names. When your name is called you can pick from the table whichever item you'd like to have.

Dress comfortable for outdoors. You may want to bring or wear a hat. The parking lot is pretty sunny.

We're usually clean but not necessarily dressed up in our garden lady finest! :)

I will not make it to the swap this year. I just got back from a trip that the kids took me on and need to be in McKinney to help out with the 2 yr old twins the next week end. I do have potted and ready for a swap: thyme (4); upright oregano (2) regular oregano (2); creeping phlox (2) an ornamental pepper (seed pods turn green, orange, purple), Kale -blue curly Scotch (2) from Baker Creek; year old daylily seedlings (6); small trees (twigs) that I got through the arbor society. I only want a tomato that will be really good for drying or paste,and maybe something native.

still have maybe 40-50 5/7/10 gallon pots perfect for all veggies! No digging holes in garden! can be moved to control sun and just put away after growing season.

I got that curry tree from a lady who posted on the forum a few years ago. She was moving out of state and couldn't take any of her plants with her. I wanted her turks caps.
They were all in pots on her apartment patio. She was so concerned about getting her plants to a good home. I told her I'd take them all so she'd have one less thing to stress out over. She and her husband helped carry them all down to my car.

She only had the one curry tree which I knew nothing about at the time. I have no idea where she got it from or where someone would find one to purchase or take cuttings from.
After a year or so trying to take good care of it, and since it wouldn't be in ground hardy here I decided to pass it on to someone who would be willing to drag it in and out during the plant shuffle dance.

I can't even remember who took it off my hands.

Misti.............I have looked and looked for the blue shell pea vine seed (my niece wanted some), and have been unable to locate them. I will keep looking and bring them if I find them. If I don't, I usually have "volunteers" that come up each year and you would be welcome to come get one of those.

4 small bay leaf plants
1 small curry leaf plant(needs a little special care!)

4 small blue mist flower plants

1 Chinquapin oak seedling

I am looking for nursery pots in the following general sizes;
1 gallon size
5 gallon and larger sizes.

The rooted cutting fig plants need special care. They are sensitive to over watering at this stage. They need to be brought in the garage during the first couple of winters. The mission may need to brought in every year.

Nana I have tons of 1 and 5 gallon pots.
I am interested in bay leaf, guava,blue mist and a fig for our zone that is tasty. I've only ever tried turkey fig I believe.

Nana, welcome............so nice to see you are coming to the swap. I would like to try one of the Celeste and one of the Violette de Bordeaux figs if there is anything I have you would like to swap.

Was getting ready for bed and thought heck, I might as well post. Anyone need a kitten or two? I have six, no trade required! lol

Misti, I have you down for a bay leaf, guava, blue mist and 4 types of figs. Celeste does well here and produce sweet figs. It is cold tolerant once established. The other 3 are better tasting in my opinion but perhaps not as cold hardy. You will have to bring them in the garage for a couple of years but it is worth the effort. After that you can plant them in ground . The mission fig may have to be brought in every year. I have had those 3 types only for a couple of years while my Celeste mother tree has been in ground for about 10 yrs and now and produce close to 50lb in fruit each year.

I can use about 10-20 1 gal pots and about 5 assorted sizes 5 gal and greater. Thank you!

Carrie, thank you! I have you down for a Celeste and a Violette De Bordeaux. Celeste fruit is amber colored while VDB is black in color with a reddish interior.
