Plumeria is reputed to be very easy to root from stem cuttings.

Well, it is easier the longer the cutting... bottom heat will help it root. I have rooted them both in water and in potting soil. During the summer, I just usually stick them in potting soil and wait.
They need high drainage, they tend to get root rot. They like it HOT, and probably won't bloom if you don't have constant above 90º temps. Give it full sun and protect against frost and water in the winter.

i just throw them on the cement or any where in the backyard for a week or two then just plant them in the ground. i have three cuttings ranging from two feet to five feet that are growing very happily in my back garden from this way. it works

I also bought a plumeria in Hawaii the first of May. I came home planted it in well drained soil and low and behold its blooming. I am very excited. We have had a really hot summer so maybe that helped. I also mist it daily and only water it about once a week. Its on by patio. Good luck with yours.

Those are incredible. A neighbor here has one that is about 20ft tall with about a 15ft canopy with yellow floewrs. Its one of the few large ones I've seen in California. They look and smell great when in bloom.

Yup. All from cuttings from various places. The bright red one came from the Riverfront Market in New Orleans. It's my visual reminder of that wonderful city. I have several others from cuttings that have not bloomed yet. For me they can take about two or three growing seasons to bloom, depending on the maturity of the cutting.

They can be a challenge up here in the 'north'. Once they start growing, they like a lot of root room to do their best and very well-draining soil -- and lots of water during the growing season. I have to water almost every day! Winter's another story. Almost bone dry the way I store mine.

They are great. Definately best to let the cutting 'Dry off'
before potting. They do tend to rot.I've found they like to be on the dry side, while they are striking.[especially if cold]
When they have lots of roots and warm weather they are then happy with water as long as there is good drainage. They are amazing just how big a cutting you can take. 5 or 6 feet!Instant tree!
The big ones tend to branch higher I've found. The smaller ones tend to have better shape in the long run.They are indeed very beautiful. And the perfume, wow.Cheers L

I would also try www.plumeria101.com. They have a great section on "plunging" your plumeria into the ground, still in it's pot, so you can move it inside in the winter. The photos are inspiring also.
I bought my first plumeria (rooted cutting) earlier this summer, "plunged" it in a sunny spot, and water it once a week. It's flowering and has new growth so I'm encouraged enough to get another (and another ;). Summers here don't get to 90, usually 75-80F. As far as watering, it helped me to see plumeria listed in a book on succulents. Daily watering might be too much.

Hiya all,
I received 3 cuttings from interstate (queensland) and dried them out for 2 weeks...then potted them in large pots. Despite it being winter here, we do get some sunny days, so when the sun is out, i'll take the pots outside and postion them in the sun...then back indoors for the winter ahead.

How long b4 i can expect some leaves..and then flowers. I'm concerned of black tips that are showing on the stump top ..there are no leaves yet.
