Pyrostegia venusta aka Flame Vine, Flame Creeper or Orange Trumpets. Native to this area of Brazil but an absolute devil to propagate.

It's just a bit of fun campanula, but it passes the time so have a go, no harm in trying. Most of the pics on here are from abroad (from me) so it's a drop in the ocean each one I guess right!

There is a short and stubby form called 'State Fair' that is a blooming machine. Someone gave one to me and I cherish it. It's just a 3-4 foot tall bush but it is covered with hundreds of orange flowers from early May til early November and by fall it is bent over with small reddish fruit. It would make a great container plant for people that like orange flowers.

I think Canna is exactly what it is. The leaves are very broad, long green leaves (similar to banana plant leaves but smaller). Thank you.

Actually I don't think it IS Pyrostegia, which is a vine with pronounced tendrils, , and your plant has much larger ribbed leaves.
Ian can you have another look, I think it might be some sort of Acanthacea - justicia or something similar.?

The leaves look more like Acanthacea - justicia than the Pyrostegia. Thanks. I'm going to keep it growing in the pot and try to overwinter it in the house. Any suggestions how to do it?

I'm also still going for some sort of justicia - what about Justicia spicigera ("Mexican honeysuckle")
