Update on Kathy, keep praying

I guess this is why I couldn't get a hold of her. This is from her DIL

"Kathi was moved to rehab on Tuesday and was having a pretty bad day. I think they overwhelmed her with too much information about the long hard road ahead and freaked her out. I spoke with her yesterday and she was doing much better, you will need to get the room and phone number from Dave. I have finals next week so I havenÂt been a very good daughter in law."

I hope she's having better days from now on.
Sometimes I wish they wouldn't tell people so much information and let them take it day by day.

I'm still praying.

She's been in my prayers every day. I am so sorry that she has to go through so much pain, now I will pray that it will be worth it and she will be like new. Hang in there, Kathy - we're all still here for you.

Hey Y'all! HA! Well, now don't get jealous, but I've been visiting my daughter and granddaughter in O'ahu, Hawaii. My SIL is stationed there with the Army and is in Thailand for the month of May, so I said, "Hey, I'm going to Hawaii! Bye DH! Take good care of all the kids (a/k/a dogs & cats)!" OMG you just can't believe all that plants that grow wild out there. BEAUTIFUL! Truly a plant lovers paradise! I said forget about the tourist traps, and so we drove around and went to the Dole Pineapple Plantation (OK, it is a tourist trap, but a neat one with all kinds of plants.), and then we went to the Waimea Valley Audubon Center on the North Shore. Incredible. Amazing. Gorgeous. And at the end of the trail there is the Waimea Falls that flows into a beautiful pool. And on-post, where my kids live, many of the housing units are vacant, but with great plants growing all around them. So I made good use of my walking-the-dog times to get a bunch of clippings for my daughter. One time I cut 4 huge bird-of-paradise flowers for her with some of the large green leaves and put them in a large vase for her dining room table. I got cuttings of plumerias, mother-in-law tongues, aloes, ferns, and others that I don't know the names of, but they are pretty. And right outside her door she has a huge mango tree hanging with lots of fruit, an avocado tree that they got fruit from all winter, and a couple of large jacaranda trees all in bloom. They really smelled great. So I'm trying to get my DH to agree to head to Hawaii for turkey day! Booking in advance gives you some really good flight rates, and staying with the kids is an extra added bonus. Especially since my little granddaughter just turned one in March. Aloha!

Hello, All!!! I hope none of you have sent me an email becauce I haven't been able to check my email (if I don't hurry up & get another computer of my own I'm going to scream!). The sister's boyfriend's computer had to be worked on due to the 500+ viruses he had (he blamed email but I told him downloading music could open up a computer for viruses too). Anyway, I'll check it soon, I promise! I received the following from my pal: A very pretty card with "Handmade" on back. SP, did you make it? There's a black & yellow bird on a tree or shrub & it has a red flower. It's very pretty, in fact, I'm putting it in a picture frame. Pal, if you made that yourself I am impressed! I also got a package of dianthus 'Arctic Fire' seeds, which were on my want list. A cute little ladybug magnet, an iris plant, & some floating candles. She also sent a battery-operated, handheld fan, which is most appreciated since it's been so hot here. I wasn't thrilled when it got tangled up in my hair, although it would have been hysterical if it would have happened to someone else (say, my husband or one of the kids!). I also got a box of 50 incense cones with a ceremic incense holder "to keep insects at bay" printed on the box. Again, most appreciated since this is the South & we're plagued by all sorts of insects (& the husband's chickens obviously aren't doing their job). Thank you so much secret pal! I loved everything! My secret pal sent a lovely surprise box again. A nice card with a short note. A very cute cat planter holder that wiggles, or I don't know what to call it, it is not a cat pot holder. It is a wire cat that wiggles that holds a 6 inch clay flower pot, included. I will have fun filling that pot! There is personalized stationery to use with my old people I write to. Gotta be careful there, I am in that bracket! A cute book on cats, questions and answers about cats. A real nice pair of garden gloves, which will come in handy. Mine have holes in the thumbs. Why do we just hang onto the old and not replace them? Then a super nice can of nice smelling garden soaps. No plants, which was super fine, we went to Ore. & I stopped at a few nurseries, and got plants for 50% off, and for over a week, have been working on getting them into the flower beds. I am taking pictures to send her eventually. I enjoy my secret pal, and it gives us a break in our routine. Now I have another great cat book to read! Thank you so much for all you send. P.S. we have sort of adopted a stray cat a mo. ago, and sure makes me long for a new one again. This one is outside, and always in fights, a unneutered male. Last week, he got part of his ear removed and his face all gouged up, fighting with a racoon. Have a good month secret pal!

Hi Darlene! I did receive your package. The Almond Roca you sent has already been consumed. That stuff is so good. The kids have eaten their candy too. I haven't had a chance to use the Xyron sticker maker yet. But, I just got off for the holidays. So,perhaps we'll get time to figure it out and play. I put the herb garden light in my sunroom. Its not so sunny this time of year though. That light might be the brightest thing out there. I put on my fluffy socks and read my Birds and Blooms right away. I love those fluffy socks. They are so soft! The envelopes and photo album will come in handy. I have more people to take pictures of now. Please take care of yourself and have a wonderful holiday. I have enjoyed having you as a Secret Pal. I do hope we can continue to correspond and keep intouch now that the swap has ended. The whole family would like to thank you for all you've done for us. I can only imagine how terribly sore she is after such a surgery. My thoughts and prayers go out to you Kathy.

Hey y'all, Kathy just called and sounded great.
Even talking about busting out "I've had back surgeries before, I know how to take care of myself" lol
She misses ya'll and it's driving her crazy not being able to get on GW
She said her roommate offered to bring her laptop but she was too druggy to post and I said no one would've have noticed, lol
They had come in to gas her(oxygen therapy), so we had to get off of the phone, lol
It was so good to hear her laughing and cutting up.

Oh, Jolana - that is wonderful news - our prayers have been answered and we will have a new and improved Kathy. We better start boning up 'cause I'll bet she'll be sharp as a tack and ready to take us on.

Kathy called yesterday but I was unable to answer and by the time I knew, it was too late to call her.
I'll try to call her this evening and let y'all know.
