Comments (21)First of all, thanks for all the suggestions and taking the effort and time to educate me and help me. I decided to buy Ruby seedless and Perlette after taking the list on this thread to a competent nursery person and discussing it with them and also based on local availability. I have also placed an order for a Kyoho - just because I like the fruit so much that I am willing to try growing it. homey_bird, what I was told at the nursery I went to is that if you are in a cooler area, you need to buy varieties that require less heat to produce fruit and ripen (btw/ what I did not mention is that i also had a Thompson seedless that i planted at the same time as my ill fated Concord and it got a really bad case of white mildew 2 years in a row that I decided to remove it several years ago - I was not spraying anything on them at that time). You may want to keep your Thompson vine for a couple of years (I hope you planted it in full sun) and see if you get fruit - you might be luckier than I. If not, you can always get another one to try. As for me, I am keeping all my new grapes in large pots for a couple of years and move it around until I find a place in my yard where they fruit reliably. Comments (18)Well, I got two of the hybrid seedlings from Rolling River. I would not have purchased them if I had seem them that is for sure. There are really spindly/thin and don't see how this (what looks like a cutting) will become a bush. They are alive and growing though. Summer Winds had unnamed varieties for 9$ in much better shape. I bought two there and then saw a Coolidge at Home Depot for 18$. Picked that up and a month later see Naemetz (sp?) at HD for 20$ and pick that up. I move my spindly Rolling River ones out to some place in the yard and replace with the HD varieties. I also so Naemetz at Lowe's quite large trained as a tree for 35$ I think....See Moresartre guava
Comments (9)I am currently sprouting seeds from Cas Guava, or sour guava . Just planted today and was googling info. I have a house in Costa Rica and just loved the "lemonade type " beverage made from the juice. I also have Costa Rican Mandarine Lime trees growing that have done very well in Texas, even in last winters freeze. Comments (12)My area is swamped too, but not just greening, canker as well. I suspect my tree has both. Plus pests of all sorts. I've read far and wide, and there is a lot out there on greening. A lot of science, and a lot of snake oil. The scientists I have read range from very pessimistic to hopeful but only in the long run. In my experience, anything offering you a cure or an inexpensive and non-labor intensive way to drag out the inevitable death of an infected tree is probably either just dreaming or trying to sell you something. Or both. Citrus farmers are trying a range of stopgaps to keep the trees producing longer - antibiotics, root drenches, fioliar sprays - but the two things they all have in common is that they are all expensive and none of them cure the disease. Most of them only really slow it down in the short run, unless you combine the treatments. Im not putting in another citrus until UF releases the genetically engineered citrus tree that has spinach genes in it. It's in early stages, but I read they isolated the gene in spinach that makes it immune to greening, and successfully spliced it into a grapefruit. If it works, greening will be over. The same scienctists expect that short of some similar gene engineering, the citrus industry is done in Florida - and in residential areas affected by it. I quit trying to help my tree when I found out profit margins in citrus dropped by something like 30% or more when greening hit - that is how expensive it is to keep an infected tree alive....See Morednt72800

12 years agoHere is a Vietnamese seedless guava and IMO they are not very good. I've tried them crunchy and ripe and I prefer the Mexican Cream which has a hint of banana and coconut with few seeds.

This is my seedless guava. I was told it was a rare "Madagascar seedless" variety. People who I sent the pics to thought it might be an "Indonesian seedless" I have seen the Indonesian and believe my fruit to be more yellow when ripe and extremely fragrant and delicious! I am not a huge guava fan, but these are amazing!
