Hey experts - how to protect woody perennial zone 9 in zone 7?

Hey yall,

I expect that you all are just the right folks to answer this question: Ever since I saw an 8 foot stand of Cat's Whiskers (Orthosiphon) at Bellingrath Gardens in Mobile AL, I just had to try it. The plant is supposed to be hardy to zone 9 or 10, so they were pushing it a tiny bit in Mobile, which is zone 8b. It thrived the first year here in Nashville and has breezed through several nights in the 30s. It is about 3 1/2 feet tall after the first year's growth. I have it in an 8 foot deep terraced bed near the back of the house with plenty of wind protection. I would love to protect it real well and get it up to its mature size eventually. I routinely grow several zone 8 plants, but this is my first try at extreme zone pushing - I'm excited! What should I do? I have windows that I could surround it with as a temporary cold frame. Should I go ahead and do that now? Maybe a load of mulched oak leaves around it inside the window structure? What do you think are my chances?
