Please pray for Jan & Jim

I got this email message this morning from Jan:

"Just thought IÂd let you know. On Wed. we had to have AirEvac come in and fly Jim to Nashville to Bapt. Hospital. His heart was racing and I couldnÂt get a BP. By keeping him on a heart monitor they have been able to find out his problem. They are putting in a Defibrillator/Pace Maker on Mon. about 7AM. He will be in the hospital until Tues or Wed. ItÂs been a rough week for him. Please keep him in your prayers."

Guys please, please pray for Jim and Jan!

I'll try and relay information as I get it.

I just got off of the phone with Jim and he's doing better but he's bored. I talked to Jan and she's on the way back to Baptist Hospital from their house. Jim is in Room 5328 and you can call them at 284-5328. He can have visitors and I'm sure he'd appreciate hearing from you guys or having some company; just not a deluge of it. Short calls or visits would be best. You can always call me at 310-4155.

I just sent Jan a big email. Maybe she will get it when they get home. they are in my prayers and most of all in my heart. I miss you guys and I pray that each of you are being blessed this Thanksgiving and CHRISTMAS!!! season. For all the other faiths, Happy Holidays!! Christmas remains a sacred word to me.

denninmi I planyed a 55' row of prime jan tissue cultured plugs from Nourse Farms last yr. They grew very well, but I didn't get one berry. There were a lot of berries, but they didn't ripen. I think that planting them in May (and still covering them on nights of frost) didn't give them enough time to produce. This year, I am getting berries. I am hoping that continue to produce and ripen until the frost. I am pleased with the berries that have been harvested.

Thank you very much, Judy and Jim! Judy, I fertilize once a year (at best) with a handful of 10-10-10 and Epsom salt in the spring. Also, if I have anything organic (bought on clearance sale), I add a handful of this, too. That is it. I didn't spray my roses for about five years now. I do have my Black Spot champions here, but some roses show some BS resistance. I can not brag about my roses being free of disease (BS), but it is not crucial. I am still thinking about starting regular spraying program next year (although I made that promise to myself probably for three or four years already). Serena, I tried to make a picture of the bush of 'Ivor's Rose' today. It might look not so well on the picture, but it definitely looks much better in person. Also, I took a good look at the foliage today. It is superb, absolutely clean. Amazing.

Thank you all so very much. David and I are actually receiving a blessing while we are staying with his Mom daily. I've tried to keep her talking, so her speech and memory will be exercised, and during this time, I have learned so very much about her life. Some things I already knew, but that's ok, I still enjoy hearing it again. Sometimes I may hear the same thing 8-10 times in one day, but atleast she is talking and she is really trying to get better. This is a lady that has worked all her life, very hard. Her pride is her downfall, as it is with most of us. I think it causes her great pain to have to depend on us. I have told her that it is being done, not because we have to, but because we love her so very much. She lost her husband of 55 years last Oct. We had to downsize her home and this has been hard on her too. Less than a month after moving into a new, much smaller house, she had her stroke. Our main concern is her eyesight, she's legally blind, but can see a little from the inside of her left eye. She can see TV ok and to eat if she tries really hard. We are so very afraid of another more devastaing stroke. She will be 76 in August and I pray that God is merciful to her and lets her live that long. She is getting home health, which includes Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapies and has an aid to give her a shower 3 times a week plus an RN comes once a week. We don't know how long this will last, but it sure is a blessing. Her daughter has lived with her for the last 5 years, so she is with her at night. In all, it's actually easier than I had figured it would be. I pray that we can continue to keep her spirits up so she can improve. David and I are having some really bad personal problems right now that has nothing to do with his Mom. I can't go into detail, but I ask for your prayers that God will work in both of our lives to bring us closer together and that he will give us another 35 years of marriage. June 18 will be our 35 aniversery. My friendship with all of your wonderful people is such a blessing to me. David and I both are blessed by knowing each and everyone of you. You are so special to me. Jan and Jim are like a brother and sister that I have never had. I thank God daily for her encouragment to me. She is steadfast in your emails to me and phone calls to. I talked with her today and she is really handling their diaster with God's grace. It will be hard for them, so any and all help is so very much appreciated. Help can be given with words of encouragement and your prayers. I spoke with Jeff and Lavonne today, also. You are so special to me, too. All of you are. So know that my love for ya'll runs very deep in my soul. I pray that each of you recieves God's love this wonderful day, Mona

Jim is doing some better. The hematoma is down to the size of half a grapefruit, and very purple. He tires easily, which is to be expected. Now if I could just get him to stop doing so much...I'm just wasting my breath. I appreciate everyone's concern and prayers...that's what he needs. Jan

We just got back from the hospital and Jim is in really good spirits.

He is on Coumadin so they have to let his blood thicken before they can do the surgery. That's why they have to wait until Monday. Jim thinks that he's going home Tuesday but Jan thinks it's going to be Wednesday.

We'll probably go back out there tomorrow so I'll try and keep everyone abreast of the situation. They said that they really would appreciate everyoneÂs prayers.

Jeff,

Please let Jan & Jim know they're in my heart and my prayers. A pacemaker can make a huge difference -- I saw it with my mom.

Jim just got out of surgery and Jan said that the doctor told her that everything went fine. He'll be resting/sleeping until about 1:00-2:00. Lavonne and I will be going out there later this afternoon.

Wonderful! I praise God that everything went well. Jeff, please keep us updated.

We had our Thanksgiving today since the kids have to work Thursday. I'm stuffed, the bird is about gone, now for the sweats!

We just left the hospital and Jan & Jim are going home today. Please remember to keep them in your prayers as Jim is going to have a sticky revovery process. Poor Jan has a hardheaded patient to deal with too; much like my better half does.

I appreciate everyone's concern and prayers. It has been a long week, hopefully we will both get a good night's sleep tonight. Now to decipher all the instructions about all his medicine...and keep it all straight.

Keep praying, it has only begun. Now they say he has congestive heart failure on top of all this.
