I grew up in Florida and loved Eucalyptus trees. A year ago we planted eight twelve-inch Eucalyptus Cinereas in our back yard here--ten miles south of Richmond, Virginia. I didn't expect them to survive the winter. We didn't protect them in any way. Temps went down into the teens (got as low at 10 degrees for two days) for two weeks and over a month in the low to mid-twenties. Two good snow storms to boot. We suffered some leaf and small branch loss, but pruned them this April and they are flourishing with even faster growth than last year. Oldest are six to nine feet. Second batch planted this April are doing well. Starting next year's seedlings (from Park's) and plan to continue to plant them. They are fast-growing and make a nice tropical addition to our back yard.
