Knoxville Plant Swap - Oct 14th

Remember, the Knoxville Plant Swap (formerly the East Tennessee Plant Swap) will be at Admiral Farragut Park on October 14 (just 3 weeks from now). All the info can be found at www.knoxplantswap.com/ . Everyone is invited! Even if you don't have plants, cuttings, or seed to trade, you are still encouraged to come.

Also, check out the Swap Forum (at the page linked below). There were over 450 posts for the spring swap, but there's only a few so far for the Fall Swap. There's not been as big of a push for this swap, but I think it's time for everyone to start planning (many already have) and inviting other plant lovers.

Sorry I can't make it as the other swap is on the same day...:(( Sure am gonig to miss swapping and seeing everyone again...

I just think it would be fun to meet other local gardeners. None of my friends or family locally are into gardening much. I always have extra plants. Our climate is so unique it is great to have this forum and since we all like to talk about gardening online, I'm sure we'd like to talk about gardening in person too. ;) I've belonged to an online pond forum for many years and have met many members in person and it is such fun. I've traveled up to Vancouver BC twice for get togethers and hosted one here last summer. Met others on vacations around the US too. Thought folks on this forum might enjoy a get together too.

I am also just seseing this swap idea on this parft of the board. We are fairly new to the area and loive in Soddy Daisy near the Possum Creek Campground. Love plants and do have a couple of plants to share whenever the next swap takes place. Have a couple of native columbines and maybe some asiatic lilies. This group sounds like a lot of fun and since I love flowers, it would be a good match. Cheryl

With all the activity on the our Swap Forum, I think this Fall Swap will be the biggest Fall Swap we have ever had! Many people that end up coming to the swap don't set up pretrades on the Swap Forum, but even if just the people that have posted so far came, it would still be a big success.

I'm so sad I missed the swap! i just got into gardening, and saw the posts, but was a week too late for the swap. :( I'll wait for the spring one. Jen had also mentioned of meeting up the first week of nov, so that could be fun! I'm a complete newbie on gardening and would love any advice on building a raised bed garden for some vegetables and flowers. People have told me its easy,and just need to build the box, add the "soil mix"-does someone have the "recipe" for it? and then plant the plants. I'm hoping to make my own "hawaii" in SA. If anyone has any plants they would like to donate, let me know, I'd be happy to trade for baked goodies, since I dont have many plants yet (have some pepper plants, some dying tomato plants, just got some jasmine plants). I'm looking for some plumeria (kms2 was kind enough to share some), but would love more, hibiscus, ginger, jasmine, anything that smells good,and reminds me of hawaii, and purple flowers (fav color). Thanks, can't wait to get started... "chuckie"

Well trust me, the date was hard to come up with several of the swappers having other planes on alternate weekends. We have several people that won't even be able to make it...looks like a small group this time.

You've probably been asked before, but...
How is it that you have so many plants?!
It takes a long time to just READ your list!

I live in East Knoxville.... just moved from Florida.
Louis Phillip roses were the easiest in my garden there...and I like 'em for no maintenance. They could seemingly tolerate any amount of abuse and bounce, almost immediately, back into shape.

Do they do as well here in Tn?

I'll be there for sure. I'm working on potting up and dividing things this weekend, and will post my available list early next week.

I look forward to just having time to talk to everyone!
