thanks to the tomato hornworm my tomatoes were continuously ate upon, even with Sevin spraying. they are also hard to detect. they are so much the same color as the tomato leave or stem that they are hard to locate and before you know it your tomato is gone! these worms also love other plants so i'll let them have the other plants and keep my tomatoes safe! Sorry :(

I didn't know that Rizzir. I have seen the Hummingbird Moth around here and they are neat little critters. But, like good ol' Norm, maters taste better than moths. I saw some folks eating them on Fear Factor.

There are actually many kinds of sphinx moths -- it's a whole group of moths (Sphingidae). If you are digging and find brown pupae in the dirt, that is how they pupate!

I have found all sizes of pupae in the dirt around here. The year after we moved in I found a fairly large one, and gave it to the neighbor's boy to hatch out. It turned out to be a GIANT green moth - a Luna moth! It was fantastic. I have pictures of it somewhere. I'll see if I can locate them.

Very cool. I didn't know that Luna moths also pupated underground.

Looks like good Catfish bait to me!
