Sir Hans - I don't know what that breeder was feeling when he first saw his babies open, but I do know that every time a bloom opens for me, I am awed by it... Mother Nature performs such wonderful miracles, and when I think about the miracle of a bloom opening and its abject beauty, it makes me feel kind of small and insignificant... Soultan - it's kind of strange to think that opposite seasons are happening... Aussie flowers are blooming outdoors, and ours are resting... mine are just roots and bulbs and corms under a layer of frosted earth...

I went through this "nightmare" of posting pictures here myself! Once I had figured it out, I took notes and saved them in a "how-to-file". Whenever I needed to post a pic, I always HAD to refer to it; as it is very hard to remember the (horrid) details. Since then, I see that things have improved (somewhat?). Speaking of the "photobucket" server, which I also use; all one needs to do here on this GW/FF is to just click on HTML Code (part of the Photobucket picture properties, see a "copied" highlight, go back to GW/FF and rhen just paste. This procedure DOES NOT WORK on the F4F/FF. There, one needs to click on the photobucket pic IMG Code, copied, and pasted on the F4F/FF post. One very GOOD feature of F4F/FF is that one can directly UPLOAD from (own) PC (photobucket, or eq. not needed here!), Just use the "Manage Attachments" button at the bottom while posting, and one can upload various kinds of files (with some size restrictions), including pictures! While doing all this, it is always wise to "preview" the post before "submitting" it. If one does not see what was intended, then REVISE and hope for the best. What one sees on the pre-view is what he/she gets... Sorry for causing any hair scratching! Just trying to help...

Although daylilies are growing in popularity here in Australia there are still very few hybridisers. there is also Scott Alexander who is probably the biggest Australian creater. I don't know why but very few of his daylilies are registered. all of his are named with Maleny as the start. Some real beauties too. The most you pay for an Australian introduction is about $100.00. The ones above I paid $20.00 for the 1st two and only $8.00 for Helena Seabird. American introdutions are either unavailable for a year or 2 or just prohibitively expensive. No critters that eat daylilies here...big ones anyway...thrips and aphid abound, however. We are in the first few days of Spring..I live in Florida type climate so yes, tons of rebloom and flowering sporadically throught the year. Seedlings quite often flower in the first year too.My garden is nothing special yet as we only bought this house in March this year and there was no garden apart from a couple of palm trees, so my garden photos will not really be very exciting yet. BUT here is a couple. All blooms are first flower opens. I would love, love, love! to see your working Kelpie and people here would be delighted to see your Laura and your current kelpies working their sheep...What's so fun and wonderful about the gallery is that everyone has shared everything! I have seen Jim's bear-cub/bobcat Lacy which is huuuuge and his birds and I also have seen Boxofrox's beautiful bee and his pup Ellerina and Lucretia1's hummingbird.
