The East Tennessee / Knoxville Fall Plant Swap Announcement

The East Tennessee Fall Plant Swap will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Admiral Farragut Park. Setup will begin at noon (or a little before for the early birds). We'll have a potluck lunch/snacks sometime between noon and 1:00pm, and trading will begin at 1:00pm.

Further details will follow.

If anyone has any questions at all, please let me know.

Hello,
I live in Clinton and have some plants that I'd be willing to share. Can I come and should I list what I have etc. Not really sure how you go about this sort of think.

I got you down as firmly committed to be there. LOL

We have a website ( www.easttnplantswap.com/ ) with a swap forum that is usually used to post pre-trades and list what you're bringing. I think Laura is working on upgrading the site right now, so I'm not sure when it will be available. For now, just watch for updates here. If we get the swap forum up and going, there will be an announcment here or on a new thread.

In the mean time, you could post the things you were interested in trading on the Tennessee Gardening Exchange Forum and list it as "ET Fall Plantswap Trades" or something like that. There aren't as many people using the Gardenweb Tennessee Gardening Exchange Forum as I wish there were, but it is an option until our own swap forum gets back up and running. If you do decide to post there, you could always give a heads up on this thread so no one will miss it.

The Fall 2009 ETPS will be at New Harvest Park near Target in the Knoxville Center Mall Area. The swap will begin at 2PM on Sunday, October 11. We aren't posting a recommended setup time this time (you know how much time you need) and, instead of a meal, we'll be doing snacks/finger foods whenever you're hungry. Red_bird, You should start a new thread and tell us what went wrong with your rose cuttings. I know there are at least a couple of rose experts on here that could probably tell you what you could do to get better results. I have grown lots of different types of plants from cuttings, but haven't done roses (yet). I have heard they were supposed to be pretty easy though. Don't worry about not being able to bring alot to the swap. The effort you made to grow the rose cuttings (which would have probably have gone over quite well) shows you tried. As long as you show up and give some poor little orphaned plants a home, you'll be fine. Maybe you can give the rose cuttings another go next spring.

We had a record turnout for a fall swap (which are always smaller than the spring swaps). Approximately 30 people attended the Fall 2013 ETPS. Part of the reason we had so many was because of AmyLynn's work on Facebook and other venues. She brought in a number of new swappers. Earlier in the week, the weather people were calling for rain, but the rain held off and the weather was great. We also managed to have the swap at New Harvest Park, which most of us like much better than the other alternatives. With luck, we're gonna try to reserve it for the spring swap (but that's always a challenge).

The Fall 2017 East Tennessee Plant Swap will be held at New Harvest Park, 4775 New Harvest Lane, Knoxville TN 37918 on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Swapping begins at 10:00am (no exchanges before that, please). We will have a pot-luck lunch at 11:30am. Please make plans now to come join the fun on swap day! As always, new gardeners are especially invited to attend. There are always plenty of plants in need of good homes, fellow friendly plant addicts excited about trading, and the best food around. Even if you don't have much to offer for trade, PLEASE come, make new friends, and be prepared to leave with lots of awesome stuff! The swap is entirely free and absolutely nothing will be sold, but it does cost the coordinators a little to reserve the park and pay for hosting services for the website. A donation of two or three dollars per person, with a maximum of five dollars per family, would help us cover these expenses. Find more details about the swap at the website, www.easttnplantswap.com. Laura's got our wonderful new swap forum up and going!!!!!! Way to go Laura!!!!!! It looks like it's gonna work very well and will hopefully avoid the evil spammers that had started to infiltrate the old one!
