Voice your support for (off topic) Conversation pages being added

Please post HERE, to this thread at The Suggestion Forum in support of getting Off Topic Conversation Pages added to the SFG forum.

With enough support, hopefully it will be added when GW does its next batch of additions. It has been a while since any were added, so hopefully with enough support, a Conversation Side here will be considered and added sometime in the not too far off future.

Sue...who loves lurking here and getting ideas.

Do any of the forums on here currently have this feature you are talking about?

If so could you point one out to me so I can see this as I really do not understand what is being asked for?

Is this another part to this forum or is is another forum completely dedicated to off topic posts?

Confused in rainy paradise.

And so, Sandi, like SJN said, the scarab beetles went running up your legs and you went screaming, "Take me to Jerusalem!" Fortunately for you, the beetles were flying beetles, and they en masse lifted you off the groundtoward Jerusalem. Alas, however, they were still only on your legs and you were flying upside down. Equally unfortunate, they had not flown with a person before and panicked, all running together for comfort, but the gathering was in your crotch, and you also panicked, in addition to a very uncomfy upside-down flight to Jerusalem. But fortunately as both you and the beetles were screaming, they had the good judgement to settle you and themselves down right next to the wailing wall in Jerusalem, and your collective cries fit in well at the wailing wall. Unfortunately, you did not have a prayer to stick in a crack in the wailing wall, and a group of people gathered around you as you and the beetles became the center of attention, embarrassing both you and them. But fortunately one of the men huddled around you said something in Hebrew, distracting you and the beetles under your pants. Both you and the beetles said, "Huh?" at the same time, and the beetles all ran out your pants legs and hopped up on your knees to look at the young man who was speaking to you. Unfortunately, the young man young man had a beetle phobia and typically handled his anxiety by sucking his left thumb and picking his nose with his right index finger, and he fell on his back with a panic attack as people pointed at him. Fortunately a very handsome young man looked at you and realized that you are drop dead gorgeous and leaned over and lifted you and the beetles and kissed you passionately as the people and the beetles cheered. Your fear of the beetles left you, as you became grateful to them for bringing you here,and you introduced them to the very handsome young man, who was actually a prince. Unfortunately the beetles were hungry from the flight and equally unfortunately whispered in your left ear that they were dung beetles and could they please have lunch. You were so grateful to them that you and the prince,who didn't have any hangups about that sort of thing, took them to lunch at a pile near the roadside. But fortunately you and the prince had a wild torrid love affair and after a week you revealed to him that you always wanted to go to Hawaii. The prince jumped with joy into the air and told you that going to Hawaii had always been his secret dream, but that he had always wanted it to be with a group, and now he had a group with you and the beetles. Unfortunately, as all of you are flying to Oahu there must be food for all to eat on the long trip. Felling kindly toward the beetles, you have carried a sack of sh** for them, which you have suspended from your belt and placed them in it. But fortunately, the prince is not like many men, who would leave you holding the bag, as it were. And beside, he is grateful to the beetles as well, and he lifts the bag from your belt and places it gently and with respect on a pillow across the aisle. You are very grateful that this lovely person respects your sack of sh** that you have been carrying from your past, as he knows that we all have a sack of sh** from our pasts. And the prince loves you just like you are, and you lean back in your comfortable leather seat and looking out at the clouds, with a profound sense of comfort in knowing that you do not need to be any better than you are for the prince to love you and knowing that you will learn to love his sack too, even as the Father of the universe loves us and the sack of sh** we all carry from our past. I was born after WWII but lived in a glorious but quite remote place in England. We had no car, no bathroom or hot water, no power supply and only propane gas lighting in 2 rooms, candles for the rest. We eventually had a propane gas 2 burner stove that supplemented cooking on the open fire and in the oven heated by the fire. We had dripping, rather than running, water. No telephone or TV of course! The first TV I ever saw was built by my uncle. There was one channel that broadcast only a few hours each day. With no heating other than open fires the house would be pretty cold in winter. My brother used to dare me to put my bare foot on the frosty windows so that we could look out on the winter wonderland! Baths were taken across the yard in a 'wash house' (where laundry was done). Water was heated by burning logs in a grate beneath a vat-like 'copper'. My mother made the wash house cozy with rugs on the stone floors and curtains at the windows. The bath was tin and placed on the floor. I remember our glowing faces after all that warmth and then a quick run in bathrobes and slippers through the deep snow in the yard. My father made me some snow shoes so that I could get to school though the deep snow drifts. School until I was eleven years old was about 2 miles from home. Summers were blissfully spent catching rabbits (by stalking) and trout (by tickling) though never harming them, and picnics. I wandered at will with no thought of danger and spent day after day helping our farmer neighbor with his animals or crops. My mother could see us from our windows, the old farmer and his little buddy, side by side on his tractor as he plowed, singing at the tops of our voices! Conditions were hard, the life was wonderful. Our family was close and laughter and conversation were endless. We were never bored, our home was filled with books and the outdoors provided more entertainment than we ever had time for! Happy days!

Oh my.......just reading all these all these posts have me smiling, and tears rolling down my face, plus a few chuckles, and the biggest, warmest feeling ever!! You all are the BEST. So much caring, support, advice, and enough sweetness that I feel like I'm in a candy store. :o) I truly love you for all the joy you give, and the big hearts you have. I'd be truly lost without you in my life. Fun2B, "Decorating shouldn't be a chore, but a joy."...very wise words. I've been concentrating on the work and not the joy, I'll work on that and my decorating this weekend! Thank you! Janet, you made me laugh with your DH's 'one spoon, one plate, one glass' and a LOT of tools.....while your 'junk' clutters up the house he thinks. LOL. Men! I don't know how to you make all those wreaths with everything on your plate, and all the pain you deal with too. So very hard on you!! Sending you love and prayers, always. Nana and Jane, sweet friends who know just the right thing to say about my Dad. :o) I'm sure you are right that he's watching over me. I think of him with every bit I do as he always said he loved how it looked and showed me how much he enjoyed it. You've given me an idea on some decorating, will tell you when it's done!!! Marlene, dear friend, could I please borrow your DH !! :o) I love all you said, and you really nailed it too! I really want to thank you for the compliments on my decorating. Hope I can live up to them. Party, you have a Mr O. too, including the obsessed golf part ?! What did God do....CLONE these guys??? LOL. You are right, (tho I don't recall him being a Scout,) if I give him a task he's pretty good at saying ok. I do think he'd draw the line at actually going thru bins or decorating. But he'd bring them in, if I asked. He seems to think if I don't ask, then I must not need help. Jeeez. You on the other hand are a huge help, I loved what you advised....."my advice is to choose a subset of decorations that are your favorites or most important to you and begin decorating. I think you need the decor to feel like the holidays and I think you need to go through the process of decorating." I am going to do this!! Phoggie, so nice to meet you! And thank you. I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband, and I hope I didn't make you sad with my complaining about my Mr. O. I know you must miss him terribly. Several of our ladies here are dealing with the same huge loss in their lives and I need to apologize to all of you if I was insensitive. I also regret you are another of us who suffer Fibro, but you're in good company here for sure! That is wonderful you've been asked to decorate for a home tour! You must do beautiful things. I hope you can share pictures with us. Yes, holiday depression this time of year is pretty common unfortunately. Since my Dad died, I sure had a bad time the last two Christmas'es with it. And fighting it this year, but at least I'm beating it for the most part. I look forward to Christmas Eve with family, but Christmas day makes me sad. Here 'alone' and its just another day. (Mr O still goes to golf course, tho its closed, and just practices. Or watches football.) I hope you hang around with us and keep posting, we're glad to have more members in our little "gang". :o) Hugs back to you. Mine go like this: 1) Decrease shopping at Target, and when I have to go, only go to the diapers, formula, milk aisles 2) Save more money, and stop wasting it on frivolous stuff. My goal for the year is to triple my savings account. 3) Lose weight- I know it is cliche to say this at New Years, but I've got to get rid of the baby weight from baby #2, I was half way there when I found out I was pregnant with baby #3, and now he's 6 months old, I need to stop making excuses because this is not a healthy weight for me and I feel it. 4) Be more patient with my children. I love them to pieces, but sometimes I lose my patience after hearing mommy, mommy! for the 9,000th time in a day 5) Go to Italy to visit our extended family. DH's Nonna will not be on this earth much longer, and we want her to meet her great grandson. This resolution also includes, conquer my fear of flying and dying in a plane crash. 6) And my final, is to have more sex. I read somewhere last year about a bunch of people that committed to doing it every day and it did wonders for them, An added benefit is it will burn more calories, and it keeps DH happier, and keeps us closer. I am not telling him this, I'm just gong to do it. Sorry it's so long, I've probably bored all of you.

Yes, there are numerous ones.
They consist of having a (on topic) Discussion side as well as an (off topic) Conversation side of the forum.
There is a link at the top of the list of threads on page one of the forum to go back and forth between Discussions, and Conversations.

The
Daylily Forum (for example) has Discussions, and Conversations, as well as a Exchange page, and a Gallery for members to post pics of all their blooms.

It's not that so much, imho, but that you are kind of a newbie compared to some of us veterans.

I'm retired, and have a lot of time to spend computin, and surfin GW. In fact, I am the resident busy body at a couple of the forums I frequent the most, which is a lot!

Sue - I've seen you before on the seed exchange forum, I think....Thanks for posting here, us newbies need a little help from time to time. Even though my first year of sfg'ing is almost up, I will always be considered a newbie. lol. Granny calls me "young whippersnapper" all the time! I hope you'll continue to post here in the future, we don't always act crazy!

the plant exchange does too, the rate and review does, the winter sowing forum does, i think there is alot, just not when you get over this way, LOL thank you Sue!! you are sooo the BOMB again!! (((HUGS!!))) see, some of them forums have

i really did think there would be more support than just us three!! :'(( i really do wish some of you others would go over there and just chime in, it really couldn't hurt!! like uhhhh carolyn, ribbit, green, jbest, and sooner, there's still more of you who do chat it up with us, please, come over and put your two cents in, hey Mike, you were the first ta point out that these older ones were gone, i really thought you'd be there with us, come on!! Medo, if they take the OT posts and put them elsewhere wouldn't it become stuffy here? Do we get in trouble for going OT all the time? Maybe there's something I missed in the past.

All work and no play makes ribbit a dull gal.

I agree with Ribbit. Our OT winds its way through the subject on a moment's whim. To have all OT have to go to a separate thread removes all the spontaneity. Heck, I'd rather all of us who have become good friends move to another board where OT isn't forbidden (if it is in fact forbidden here).

no, we don't get into trouble, but i worry that it has scared the old ones away, do you guys notice that its just us who are here anymore, don't get me wrong, i love to chat with ya'll and read your posts, even though i may not post anything, i mean, sometimes i may be having a rough day, and that will brighten up my day in a heart beat!! **big smile** but, we'll be able to at the top choose between discussion/conversation, and that's where we can just blab llike Lord knows, we know how!! LOL and on the discussion side is where all the real stuff is happening and EG can have his OT of compost cuz we all hate going to other places when we can get right here!! LOL
and no one can do a great one about them vegeis and fruits like you guys/girls!! and carol with her container ones hey! that's OT !! yes, i'm grasping **smiling** i want them back BWAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! ~Medo
