I am planning on coming.Am also expecting a new great- grandaughter on the 12th hope she get here on time,so I can be at the swap.I have a trade with Connie already set up.

If you want primarily a KBG yard, you'll need to sprout the seed already there or they will invade when you do the KBG planting in the fall. If you don't want any of it, water it up. And, then don't water. Most places would kill seedlings this time of year without extra irrigation (though mother nature can surprise). Next choice is then to decide if you want to till your lawn to prepare it. Some do, some don't. Pros and cons either way. If it was me and I had fill dirt added I'd probably till it the first of August. Then you get to the chem/organic debate. I differ with some above. I don't think it takes three years to have a starter yard ready with organics. Again, just my own personal preference would be to put down a heavy layer of compost and till it in. Level up the yard again. Then, just before seeding (Aug 15 sounds about right in your area, but check that out, all gardening is local) add 40 lbs of alfalfa pellets. It has chemicals in it that stimulate plant growth. About October I'd follow that up with another 40 lbs per 1000 sq ft of soybean meal. Its higher in Nitrogen than some organic fertilizers. And, again just me, I'd then add 1lb of nitrogen from urea after your first hard freeze. Next spring start an organic fertilizing program of your choice. The soil will continue to show improvement under an organic program for three years when it hits it max potential (all other things being equal). But, imho, you don't have to wait for it to get to its full potential to start a yard using organics. And, imho, the approach above, while not as good as it will get later, will be better than using chem fertilizers from the get-go. Of course, you know how opinions are, everbody has one. ;)

Not sure if this counts as 'advice' or a potential word of warning... we bought a 100-year old house almost 2 years ago; right next door is a 4-unit apartment building owned and maintained by an older couple. Their building and our house are maybe 15-20 feet apart, and between us is a 10-foot tall mature hedgerow which acts as a great privacy fence. We haven't had the property surveyed, but we assume the hedgerow is 'on the line,' so we maintain our side, and they maintain theirs. Well, a couple of weeks ago, we noticed a section of the hedges drooping over into our yard. Upon closer inspection, we discovered that the opposite side of the hedgerow had been CHAINSAWED, leaving little tree stumps 3 inches in diameter, three feet off the ground!!! (An old wire fence is on their side of the hedgerow, so they cut level with the top of the fence.) Our side is 'intact' in a loose manner of speaking, but the support is now gone, and whenever it rains, the hedges droop very low over our lawn. I suspect as soon as we get a decent snowfall, the hedges may well be laid flat on the ground, probably killing them, unless we can figure out some way to prop them up. Needless to say, we are infuriated that our natural 'privacy fence' is now practically destroyed. I should also mention that we get along very well with the tenants in the building, and whenever we saw the landlords come by, we always exchanged routine pleasantries, so we have no reason to suspect that they did it to be spiteful. I suspect they got sick of trimming and figured they could just cut down the hedges on 'their side,' but they realized what the consequences were and stopped before they chainsawed the whole hedgerow. I suppose if there's a moral to my story, it is this: whether you get along with them or not, have a conversation with your neighbor about maintenance and/or make it very clear to them who the hedges belong to, or else you might find that your hedges disappear.

A couple more, the boys jacket was for another nephew. He's 6'4", I'm 5'5", had a real hard time finding a jacket long enough for him. Had to add a flap in the back, the sleeves had to be lengthened and because he's got massive arms had to add some leather down the undersides of the sleeves. I used a jean jacket, felted wool sweaters and hoodie plus the leather. Total cost for it was about $14 and this one took some time. The other one is a jean jacket and a hoodie sewn together. Sister in law loves this one.

Is this a pool contractor or a general contractor. All pool options were given by our pool contractor and the errors he made were his to fix! Which he has done, but on a very very slow schedule. We started building during covid, moved in last Jan and still have things being finished a year later. You'll have to decide if this is worth fighting for, or if taking the financial hit is the best option to keep the project going and done properly.

Lavonne and I registered three weeks ago so we're taken care of.

Evelyn, this is all Rhonda's baby now - I'm out. You can refer to me as a MTPS Director Emerita, along with Jan and Mona, but I am R-E-T-I-R-E-D!!! Now I get to sit back at my table and watch someone else quickly lose all their marbles two days of the year in a semi-organized mass panic. SWEET! :-)

I'm coming too. I also have a friend from my dog training club who's coming. I was at her house the other day and she showed me her "swap" area. :)

In the English language, which is the only one that I have a passing knowledge of, it means:

To withdraw or remove oneself; to withdraw from office; to fall back or retreat in an orderly fashion; to remove from active service or the usual field of activity; to withdraw, as for rest or seclusion; to sit back and watch Rhonda spaz-out with what I've been dealing with for years. :-)

I am definitely coming. =) The father-in-law may come along with me as well. If he comes, he'll have a ton of canned maters, pickles, etc. i'm sure.

I am planning to come, but that situation could change. I got laid off a couple of weeks ago, so depending on the employment situation my plans could be affected. I am assuming, however, that they won't be.

So far, as I said at the spring swap, I've had a busy gardening year, and I've been using the unexpected job hiatus to get still more done. In swap terms, that means I've rooted a number of bush sages (greggi "Maraschino" and "Raspberry Delight") and I'm also trying my hand at rooting some lavender. I should also have some Coronation Gold Yarrow, several types of sedums (both small and large), Pink Missouri Primrose, digitalis "foxglove" penstemons, and other things that I simply can't recall at the moment. :-)

Thanks, Connie. Actually, as strange as it may sound, I was kind of glad. We aren't in bad financial shape right now, and I really needed a break. On the down side, it means we probably won't be going to Madeira next year for vacation, but on the up side, it means I've got more time to get the garden ready for the garden tour I'm hosting at the end of August. Details to follow soon. :-)

Also - tngreenthumb - fingers crossed, but I think I'll have at least 5 or 6 of the salvias, possibly a few more - but I DO need to go mark them before I forget which are which. LOL. Both Maraschino and the Raspberry Delight are lovely and have done well, even in the wet year we've been having.

Bob and I will be there, but have not registered yet (shame on me)! Making a list of what I am planning to dig out of the flower beds, too hot now.
April- the Maraschino Greggi I got from you in Spring is doing great. You told me to "baby it" and I have, it is over a foot tall.
Oh, "PLEASE" everyone label your plants. LOL, while I was swapping up and down in spring, then come back to our table, Bob would say, "Here is another plant" and I would ask, what is the name? He would respond "A FLOWER". After the third time, I would just look at him and say "I know, a flower". I have five plants with no names, waiting for blooms or planning to take pictures and bring to the swap for ID. LOL

Oh, Wanda, I am SO GLAD to hear it is doing well for you. Has it been blooming? Like most salvias, if you deadhead them it will keep right on trucking through October.

April, if I'm in town Lavonne and I will come. I may be in VA Beach visiting my favorite SEAL Team 2 Member before he goes to Iraq for six months though.

Only 15-20 have registered so far. There are just 56 days between now and the MTPS! Eight weeks is a very short time folks.

Rhonda and Bec ought to have the Guest Lecturer up on the website soon.

AND... (drum roll) ...Dr. Renee & her Mom should be attending again finally!!! We sure have missed you guys the last several years.
