Purple leaves and stem Lesions

My heirloom tomato plants grew spectacularly early on, some up to nine feet. However I had very limited production with many blossoms failing. More recently the plants developed a disease that displays purplish blotches on the leaves and multiple lesions on the stems, including the stems of developing fruit (which, then, donÂt develop). The plants are grown in 31 quart, self watering Earthtainers, two plants per Earthtainer. The soil is a four to one combination of Promix potting mix and Perlite. Two cups of dolomite lime (still got BER) and three cups of Gardentone 3-4-4 vegetable fertilizer were added at planting per the Earthtainer instructions. All of the containers are raised off the ground on a platform and have a black plastic mulch barrier over the top of the soil.

Our county extension horticulturalist is stumped.
