My First Square Foot Garden

I found "the book" at a garage sale for 50 cents. I read it and I was hooked. I have been gardening for many years, but never anything like this. Built my SFG out of 2 X 8's, 10 ft. long. This made the SFG 15 inches deep. Made it 4 ft. wide. For the grid I used those steel strapping strips like they put on large boxes for shipping. I filled it with hay, garden soil, peat moss, and cow manure. I finished it August 18, 2008 and did the first planting (tomatoes and cucumbers). So far it has worked really well. I have already harvested radishes and I put mustard greens in salad. It's lots of fun after you get it built. A box of this size holds LOTS of material, but well worth it.

I think I'm hooked for good.
