I'm getting my seeds packed and will get them shipped on Monday. I usually keep my seed envelopes in a book, so I can refer back to them. Is it a problem if I repack the seeds I am sending in for the swap in baggies, so I can keep the envelopes? I can copy all the pertinent information on the baggies.

Just not sure how everyone else is doing this.

Deb..I think that is fine...I also did that since I didnt have a chance to plant my half of the seeds...I just made up info cards to add to the seeds...and put on them commercial 2008. I also wrote if they were Burpee, Park seeds, etc

I just checked in I was waiting to get an e-mail with instructions. I won't be able to get my seeds ready and out on time. I am sorry maybe next year.I don't always check the forums.This way you won't hold the swap up waiting for my seeds.Sorry.

I have mine all ready to go - I just need stamps. I will do my absolute best to get it out tomorrow. Is it okay if I send you cash instead of stamps for return postage? Then I can just print out my postage on the computer tomorrow and get it right out in the morning. Please let me know. Otherwise it might not be until Wednesday that I will get it in the mail, but I will make every effort (short of driving to town JUST to get stamps) to get that done. Thanks!

Ok, just an update....I sorted the seeds, and all the envies are ready to go !! I really did the best I could..I hope everyone gets something they are excited about ! I think there had to be about 30 packs of zinnia..LOL

Ok, they are on the way ! If you sent me too much postage, you will find it in the envie..I had them weight them all, and under the stamps is written the postage incase any of your post offices ask for postage due...there has been SO much trouble with the post offices...

ok, I'm just dying of curiousity. What else did people send besides zinnias :D

oh boy...what if I cant remember ?? there were some common things ( or to me anyways) like sweet william, marigolds ( but new varieties) petunia, phlox. I was surprised not to see many columbine. There was balloon flower, veggies, herbs, several new hybrids from burpee and t & m...ahh...morning glories..black eyed susan vine.

I am not remembering the newer varitites...but there really was a nice selection of seeds ! there was even some I had to look up to see what they were. I tried to give a good selection to everyone.

There were a few chocolate named plants..snapdragons, dahlias, newer sunflowers, vinca, poppy, calendula, and SOOO many more..( i am missing most of them..sorry)

Maybe when everyone gets their envies they can post their fav seed or two that they received. I had a few more I wanted to get packed to add in, but time got away with me, with going away unexpectly last week.

I am guessing ...but there must of been atleast 250 packs of seeds..( i dont have my list right here)..so I think this was a good amount. I was really surprised to see how popular the zinnas were...I have to confess to buying several packs of them myself this year...I just love the colors !

Did anyone recieve their seeds ??? Would please post if so, and let us know one or two you were happy to see !!!

I came home last night to find some nice surprises. I was so excited that I planted a packet of Geranium 'Border Scarlet' this morning before leaving for work.

This was my first time participating in a trade, so I was anxious about making mistakes. Well, I did make mistakes, but I'll know better next time. BTW, it was nice that some of you put your GW names on the packs. That is definitely something I'll do next time.

LOL! Kym, you must be psychic to have sent a strain of Zinnias that I hadn't already bought for myself. Also, I was kicking myself for giving away two packs of Cosmos 'Sensation Mix' without saving any to plant. And guess what was in my envelope?

I received my seeds yesterday. Zinnias, Zinnias, Zinnias, Zinnias and Zinnias. Yep, 5 packs of Zinnias. Wow!
We need to tell people not to send the 10 cent packs of seeds when some are sending seeds from packs that cost close to $3.00 or more.

I did receive things other than zinnias. My favorites were Gaillardia 'Bijou' and Dianthus 'velvet n Lace'

Thanks Kym for a job well done. You can only work with what you receive. I really appreciate the time and hard work you put into this. You were very organized and got the seeds out in a very timely manner. Thanks!

Good point tma. Also, if we do this swap next year Kym(and I hope we do!) the rules may need a bit more emphasis. I only sent seeds from 2008, but I got some back that were 2007. I am sure they will perform nicely, but I misunderstood the criteria. I could have sent more seeds!

The 2007 seeds may have been an honest mistake. This year I sowed seeds leftover from previous years and, when I was going through my inventory to select for this swap there were packets that I would have liked to send that were from previous years and some undated T&M packets. I had to be careful about what I chose.

In praise of Kym: I searched for posts about trading seeds for hints about postage, etc. When I received the return envelope, I noticed that I had not sent enough stamps and Kym had made up the difference. Of course, I popped some stamps and a note into the mail for Kym ASAP. She never said anything about this, although she could have held the envelope and requested that I reimburse her prior to mailing.

I wasnt worried about the postage, you didnt need to send it to me, honest ! I would of said something but it was only a few cents !

Alana, I DID want the swap to be ALL 2008 seeds, and thought that was reflected in my first post, BUT then I got an envelop with mostly 2007...To be fair to the person I used some, and sent some back, as I KNEW the seeds would be viable, and I didnt want to disappoint anyone on a misunderstanding. If I do this next year, I will definately make sure everyone realizes the guidelines a bit better.

This was my first time, and I made a few mistakes..I did talk with a few other people that have done tons of RR to ask how to handle a few things...so I followed some good advice.
