If it's part of the main stem, something happened to it just below the wilted part. Follow the stem down from the tip as you look for a hole from critters and/or a break (or fracture) of the stem.

Seems like whats happening is they were are low on nutrients, started showing the signs(mainly yellow leaves from not having enough nitrogen) especially now that its blooming it uses more. You noticed and were hoping it was just lacking water and added even more which if anything probably made matters worse by keeping the roots from absorbing what little if any nutrients are left if any from the miracle grow soil. Of course this just speculation and my theory of whats going on, considering Im assuming that they have not been feed besides what nutrients were in the potting soil. If there were the case I would let the soil get back to how you had it and FEED it!!

Thank you for the response. I really do appreciate it. I am enough at a loss where I will try anything. so I will give some soil based fertilizers a go. From your experience, does this look like something that could be infectious? Its been like this for about 4 weeks and it hasn't affected anything but the leaves. I am still struggling to determine whether this is the plant reacting to odd treatment or if it is reacting to an infection.

I'm at a loss for what's going on... I have several new roses in pots in that same area and they are all showing the symptoms of dying leaves... none of them have ever dried out. It almost seems like a window is reflecting light onto them or something and burning their leaves but I'm not sure about that. I had my Golden Showers in a pot that all of a sudden had a cane death - a 2 foot long cane just turned brown. I cut it off, making sure to cut well before the death in case it is a disease that's spreading. I'm definitely not a rose newbie having been growing them for 3 years but this is new to me. As a precaution, I've moved all the plants to a side of the house with less sun and heat and sprayed them with an insecticide (against my principles, but these plants are babies with little growth and I don't want to lose them).
