hmm, i thought it mite be that. I am spraying with copper sulphide spray, but i think it's too late now, once the leaves show? I have had this for a few seasons, and i try n keep plants healthy for as long as i can - using coffee grounds from my local cafe seems to give the plants a lift too. now it's autumn (fall) here, and i have plants still setting fruit, so i hope to try n keep the fruit set ahead of the disease. any tips to minimise it's affects would be great too. thanks for your help mate.

Purpling indicates things other than phosphorus deficiency. In this instance, the accompanying dried (tan-colored ) cells indicates a water shortage in the top of the plant. As suggested earlier, that can have multiple origins.

Definitely not any post emergent herbicides used around here. I have very lush gardens in the back yard where these tomatoes are located and no lawn.....just mulch in the pathways. I live in a rural area with no neighbors and no farms within at least a couple of miles. So there is no possibility of any 2,4-D, although I agree that the damage to these plants certainly does look like the ones I have seen on-line of herbicide damage. This is the first time I have ever used Preen. Trust me....I will never use it again. I have koi ponds and didn't even realize until I put it out that Preen is VERY toxic for fish. Luckily all of my ponds are raised slightly so water can't run off into them from the yard. I am sort of afraid to try flushing the bed too much....it's uphill from one of the ponds and I am a little nervous about the contaminated water running towards the pond even though it's unlikely it could run in. I am usually so much better about reading labels. I can't imagine why I even used this stuff!

I have this issue and I've read it can be caused by several things but is often not an issue in the ultimate health of the plant. I've also read that it is most common in determinate and early varieties. I have a Kimberly that has terribly curled leaves just like in your photo, but is otherwise healthy and putting on tomatoes like crazy. None ripe yet but nearly every blossom has set, which is not the case for my other uncurled plants. I am trying not to worry about it, but it does look bad.
