Just another update. Most of the folks coming to the East TN Mountain Madness Plant swap don't post here, so I thought I'd better come in and tell everyone what's up ! The Garden Girls will be at the plant swap from 12:30-1:30 that Sunday. You are welcome to arrive as early as 10 to setup, but no swapping until 12:30 to give everyone coming time to arrive. We have quite a few out of towners coming, Marianne, and some folks from Cosby and Jefferson City. I've had someone request information from Georgia, so who knows what will happen. This has already been written up in the Seymour Herald newspaper. They are asking that I do a story on it complete with pictures, so be sure and smile !! If everyone comes that is signed up, we are looking at 50-60 folks, if they bring the friends they are talking about bringing, we are looking at more. PLENTY of parking. A fenced in playground , swings, slides, etc. for your children. A pavilion with picnic tables, bathrooms and a little concession stand ( although you are more than welcome to bring your own lunch and drinks ). Jeff !!!!! I'm not posting alot to the forums about the East TN Plant Swap , also now known as the Mountain Madness Plant Swap. If you're interested in more information, shoot me an email and I'll send you an invite to our Yahoo group. We talk about nothing but the swap and plants on there. So far we have right around 28 gardeners coming, not so many signed up for the group, but many that I personally know without computers that are coming. A very diverse group, from some pretty far off parts of TN too, I think you'll be surprised. Our date is the first Saturday in May. Cheryl

Hi. My name is Amanda and I'm a garden-a-holic. LOL. Seriously though, I only began gardening this year and already have plans for probably the next two or three years. I live in Chattanooga in what used to be my in-laws' house. When we moved in, there were already some hostas, two crepe myrtles, several azaleas, forsythias, two peonies, and a few other things. Well, I am working towards ridding myself of the forsythia. They are lovely, don't get me wrong, but I find them entirely too evasive. And to me, it is simply too much work to keep them trimmed back to a manageable size for something that blooms for only a week or two. I can happily say that I've added much more than taken away. I have planted cannas, daylilies, roses, bearded irises, and clematis. I definitely have plans for more roses and daylilies and cannas - just not sure where I will place everything. I am currently trying my hand at rooting some rose cuttings. I have Seven Sisters, Mr. Lincoln, and Climbing Blaze all struck. It is hard to not check for roots, as I am not known for my patience, but I have managed to leave them alone for the short time they have been in their pots. Finally, my husband and I are anxiously awaiting the birth of our second son. My due date is August 25th, but it could honestly be any day now. Our first son is 7-1/2 years old, so this is almost like having a first all over again. Although we're certainly out of practice, we're looking forward to experiencing all the 'firsts' all over again.
