Hi, everyone---I wanted to let you all know about the Herb Society of Nashville's annual Herb and Plant Sale, which will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. until sell-out, in the Sports Arena at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville. Admission is free. There will be over 16,000 plants representing more than 200 varieties of herbs. Plants are arranged alphabetically for ease in shopping, and in addition to Personal Shoppers and the "Answer Ladies" being available to help with questions, shoppers will receive a handy guide for growing and using herbs. Customers are encouraged to come early and to bring their own boxes or carriers.

This sale is our annual fundraiser to support the Herb Study Garden at Cheekwood and the Herb Garden in Centennial Park.

If you've been before, you know we have really nice plants and an amazing selection---if you haven't been, please come see for yourself!

They range in prices from $1 on some of the plant members plants, up to $3, $5, $8, $10, and then some of the more ornate rosemary's and such can get on up there. I think the highest thing I saw there was a rosemary topiary for like $75, but it was huge, ornate, and just gorgeous. That was a few years ago. Some of the larger ones now are about $25-35. There is a range for everything...but most of the smaller sq. pot herbs are around $3-5. I've been every year except the 2 years my kids were born, stood and sat thru snow, rain, and gorgeous weather, and loved every minute of it! Susan

I had a great time as usual, took a new herb gardner with me and we bought lots on herbs. I bought Lavendar and Rosemary for stock plants to grow for next years sales. Put them all in big pots until the greenhouse is done and then I will use them in the landscape.

Thanks for the reminder. I have read about this sale and have always wanted to go. I hope I can make it this year. One can never have enough herbs!
