Staking Summer Squash

gumby_ct

My summer squash usu. takes up at least a 4x4 area. Last year I remember reading the FAQ where stakes & cages were used for summer squash & zucchini. Are we talking the tomato cages here? I would love to get them up off the ground.

Stakes will not hold in the soft soil, cages same thing. I have tomato cages I can't use in my SFG but don't know how to do it. Turn cages upsidedown? Seems like it would tip over?

Does anyone have any pictures or detailed instructions on how to make this work?

Thanks for any ideas,
