Round Robin Exchange

Is there a definition of round robin forum terms?

There's enough different types of round robin posts that Iam both curious and intimidated. Is there a translation/definition guide somewhere?

well Suzanne.... it's not near as simple as it used to be. LOL
Years ago a Round Robin, specifically was a "swap" hosted by someone with enough seeds to make up a nice selection that was sent around to those who signed up. Each took want they liked and replaced with equal number of seed packs of approximately equal value. For example you could replace marigolds with zinnias or BE Susans. Hellebores would be ok to swap for Japanese Iris or something else sorta "Special".
It was OK to add some extra seeds but not "STUFF", ie candles, notepads etc. The box was then mailed to the next person on the list until it had flown around the circle and back home to it's own nest.
It was decided that this cluttered up the regular forums as there were too many replies and follow ups and eventually the "Round Robin Forum" was set up for Any group trades.
The trades morphed, over time to be a wide variety of types of swaps that involve more than two traders.
I miss the old seed round robins but the new swaps are fun too.
There are some where you need to be a member of a specific group and others that are open to anyone.The hostess sets the ground rules and they are generally posted at the start of the thread. Common sense and courtesy go a long way in making for happy trades and happy traders. Stick to the guidelines, send what you would like to receive and have fun. Many are for plants, most have at least a few seeds and some are for "garden oriented goodies" or other fun stuff.

Hello Suzanne;
Beth did a great job with the history and modern day swaps but I interpreted your question more literally and thought you were wondering about SASBE which means Self Addressed Stamped Bubble Envelope or DC which means delivery confirmation which is available on boxes shipped from the Post Office for a fee if you bring it to them or free if you print your postage on line. The post office also offers boxes for one flat rate shipping charge and they are labeled small, medium or large so that could be the size of the container you need to use for a particular swap. They now have new "regional" flat rate boxes which I received the other day and have not even had a chance to compare to the plain "flat rate".
There are alot more things that I am not even touching on but someone else will pick up where I left off.

Well...everyone get the gun and shoot me! I have the rr! I was sooooo sick last week with some kind of virus and missed 4 days of work. It was horrible...and I still haven't sent the rr out. I will do it tonight when I get home and send it to Brenda_in_ok! Everyone, I am so very sorry....after being sick and trying to double-time it at work all this week I forgot about it. But it will be on the way tonight! If you can't forgive me....you can just shoot me....I need someone to put me out of my misery anyway! LOL Ugh.....how can so much work pile up so fast??? Hey Vic... Sorry to just get back to you about the habs. This is the best description I found for them on the net: "The White Habanero also know as 'Peruvian white Habanero' is a lovely & rare variety that is hard to come by and said to originate from Peru. These firey hot lantern shaped peppers grow on small, but very high yielding bushy pepper plants with the creamy-white colored pods measuring approximately 2 inches long by 3/4 of an inch in diamater. A Navajo Star Myth Coyote According tho the Navajo mythology, the Milky Way was created by the misbehavior of the mischievous deity, Coyote. When the world was created, the Holy People gathered around Black God to place the stars in the sky according to a rational order related to the seasons. But Coyote grew annoyed by the slowness of the creation process. He first chose with anger a red star, called Ma'iio, that he placed in the south to symbolize himself. Ma'iio is a name often given to Coyote, which means 'the one who roams'. This star, of which we do not know the precise identification, appears for only a short period of time during the year, and it is said to announce trouble. Thereafter, Coyote took the bag full of stars not yet placed and threw it over his head forming the Milky Way. Since the stars of the Milky Way could not be properly placed, they could not be named. Coyote was a trickster, and would often use this to get what he wanted. In one story, Coyote turned a hero into a coyote, and in turn became the man. He went to the hero's home and slept with his wife. Coyote smelled very bad. When the wife visited her mother, she smelled the Coyote on the wife. They then knew that Coyote had tricked them. In yet another story, Coyote falls in love with a beautiful woman. In order to marry her, he had to kill the giant, Gray Big Ye'i. Afterwards, the woman attempts to kill Coyote four times, but each time he hides his vital organs so he could come back to life. The woman eventually marries him. Later we find that coyote is killed while hunting with the wife's brothers. Coyote's wife turns into a bear and kills all but one of the brothers. The last brother kills her, and brings his brothers back to life. This story explains why bears are often considered the female counterparts of coyotes. Kathy

Hi, that is not the way it was explained. it says we send 5 cuttings to each person, here is a copy of the post(No, you would not be sending out 50 cuttings, you would only be sending out five cutting to each person. In any road if each person where to take one out and pass it along by the time I'd get the box it would be full of dried cuttings fit for the trash can knowing our mail system! I know that there are different ways of doing a round robin, and this is the way I remembered being part of one many years ago. If five cutting is impossible for some then I think we should cut it to three.

Diene, I was thinking closer to what you were thinking, although I more meant things like mnf (which you defined, thank you) and "fat" round robin, and such.

Vina: I have in fact already signed up for the Adopt a Newbie swap. I will check out the mnf swap for April. :) I may be a little too intimidated right now to join (I tend to like to read for a bit before joining in on things), but I do appreciate the invite!
