We went three years in a row and thought that it was a waste of time and money.

I'd rather hit the Nashville Flea Market for plants, shrubs, trees and flowers in the Spring months. Great buys!!!

Absolutely ! I've gone to their Pok and Newburgh shows for the last 3 years. I had two friends come up yesterday for the PoK show, one from CT and one from NJ, just to see the flowers :-) Its so gorgeous ! The Newburgh location isn't as large as the Pok location, but their show is also fabulous - I'll definitely be going there next weekend :-) Philomena

Springfield at the e-complex next to the Ozark fair grounds corner of the Interstate and Hwy. 13. Can't make it this year and was frozen out last year but 2 years ago it was really good - all kinds of plant and seed suppliers, landscapers, outdoor living suppliers, garden tools, Corps of Engineers reps, vacation guides, etc. Just about anything you can imagine for gardeners. Good Morning and APRIL FOOLS DAY TODAY!!! Soups I like to make: Yellow Split Pea & Lentil or Carrot, Onion & Zucchini Basically I take the largest cooking pot I have and the heaviest...for the pea/lentil soup, throw in about a cup of split peas, 1/2 cup lentils, chopped up onion, bay leaf and gently simmer for half an hour, add more water if needed and as many chicken broths cubes as I fancy. Let sit for an hour, boil again for another half hour, let sit and do this on and off a few times and then let it sit to cool - the sitting inbetween lets the peas swell and soften more. I figure for WW about 3.5 for a large bowl. My other soup is fast, easy and 0 WW points. I mince an onion, shred the zucchini and carrot, throw in a pot, throw in water and a couple of chicken broth cubes and simmer gently for 20 minutes. You can add milk to this just before serving but then you have to adjust the point value. I prefer not to and just enjoy the flavours. I also enjoy adding 1 point by adding a teaspoon of low fat margarine to my bowl (great flavour boost). Those are my favourite home made soups. I do the pea soup on the weekends and alternate what soup I make so I don't get board. I loved stewed tomato but usually use them to make lowfat pasta sauces by mashing and gently simmering with onion, spices and throw in a beef cube and pour on my pasta followed by a LIGHT sprinkle of parmesean cheese (low fat if I can find it). Oh, and the Spring Fishing Classic is at Bass Pro this weekend so we wouldn't be able to make the NL&G show anyway. We'll be at Opry Mills. ;-)

Here is a tip. Hit up the Master Gardener display and the Cumberland Herb Society display on Sunday at 5pm.. They sell all the plants in the booth. Most of the time for cost. That's what I do and I get lots and lots of buys for the year.

I'm not sure if any of the other booths/displays do it or not.

I go for at least 30 minutes . In the past the hardwood mulch smell was awful . Thank goodness people are getting hip to pine straw and soil conditioner . Most gardens seem to be full of seasonal schwagg . At least Wes Walls display garden has some interesting material . Pat Kelly has the best selection of woody material , he is always in the back left near the door . The dude from Chanticleer should be good that place is super sweet . Choice displays of unique plant material . Killah !

I understand what BOV is talking about. I usually go, but not to buy plants. They are usually expensive. I just need a good gardening fix this time of year. Of course, this year I discovered winter sowing and have had a little fix, but I enjoy seeing everything blooming and the pristine gardens on display.

I attended on Friday and was glad that I went. I didn't really plan to purchase any plants, but did buy a tree peony, 3 gorgeous Rex Begonias, and some daylilies that were reasonably priced.

I just enjoyed seeing the displays and having a chance to stroll through the vendor section.
