This is for all of you who enjoyed & appreciated the last few posts featuring roses...as well as other floral beauties.

Flowers sure have a way of brightening a gloomy day....its been pouring outside all day & night and yet, remembering back on these from summer, I feel wonderful.

Celeste - how could anyone on this forum not enjoy rose porn? Thank you so much for more pictures!!

Countess Celeste is FANTASTIC looking! The epitome of a rose!! I also love your pink rosette!! Talk about a lot of flowers - and I just love the tightly packed flowers.

I have a question about Quadra - I've always looked at it each spring at the greenhouses - but I've never bought it. What are your thoughts on it?

Oh my gosh, Celeste. Can I come to visit your gardens?! LOL People say that to me about the bouquets I bring in to work, or the bouquets I sell locally, but when I look at your variety (Japanese iris for instance), mine seems to pale in comparison!! Thank you SO much for sharing your garden delights. I can't wait for spring already! :0) Phyl

Daisyhair, I know the feeling, but reality bites. You can plan a garden in Florida with that sort of feel, but you have to use the right roses and it won't be exactly that feel. Homework is required. You have to remember Pam doesn't have our heat with humidity. She has dry heat, so more than likely her roses would be a mess here. There are beautiful climbers in the Noisette and Tea classes, some of Austin's roses that do that jolly green giant thing will climb (sort of), and polyantha climbers like Clotilde Soupert - and others that are disease-resistant and can handle our long, hot, humid season. If you grow the right roses here, you can still get that abundant feeling (sometimes too abundant), but you do want to leave a bit of room for maintenance in between the roses. And it will take time, and a quarter-acre homesite will take some figuring to provide the flavor of Pam's hillside acres. However, my point isn't to discourage you. You just need to figure out how to make it happen using the restrictions that Florida has given you. I grow mainly Old Garden Roses in Ocala, but have been getting some Austins that like Florida and other moderns like Belinda's Dream that loves Florida. The learning curve as to what thrives here and what doesn't can be quite steep. I think I've rejected way more than I've kept, and I have almost 90 roses. If you like Austins in particular, that's doable. A lady in Sarasota grows 150 of them in her normal-sized yard, but you need to know which ones. Nice photos, Jan! That Dendrobium looks sort of like a Phal... but I love those Jewel Orchids! Those are cool! It won't be too much longer, and I'll be planting tomatoes! I just potted up 2 pink Garden Amaryllis, as they're called, last night... I was shocked to even find them, but Lowe's finally has their spring bulb selection displayed! I picked up an Agapanthus, some Acidanthera bulbs, 3 Hymenocallis bulbs, and the 2 pink Hippeastrum bulbs. All were very reasonable priced, at under $5 for each package of multiples! I scored! :-)

Fun2, don't give up on Pinterest. Its really easy to navigate once you get the hang of it and then you can avoid a lot of repetition. And don't forget there is a search box you can find things you want to look at. I'm so photo obsessed, that place is like a candy store to me. LOL. Punk, please don't be sad. I don't want to make you feel like that. Valentine's was never a holiday I particularly liked, as Candy noted about our respective DH's and them not having a romantic bone in their bodies!! ;o) I got into decorating for it only because of the gang here. But its just not that enjoyable for me. I don't have a lot of Valentine stuff luckily, so its no big deal to find it a good home. (tho I don't dare take it to Goodwill, I'd be dumb enough to buy some of it back. LOL) As for my bunnies...I think I mentioned one time that I probably have around 200 in my collection. Trust me, I won't miss a lot of them!! I want to pare down to those that I really love or are special to me. None of my kids are collectors, or holiday decorators (except Christmas) cause they are too busy in their lives right now. So I can't dump my stuff on them. Darn it. Party, thank you. Sounds like you understand. With me having so many collections and so much stuff, lately I am just feeling like its taking over my house and life. I would like to pare some things down a bit, tho I am the type of person who will always have 'too much' stuff. LOL. I'm glad y'all enjoyed that Pinterest board of mine. Jane, how are things going there? Besides frustrating! I will add photos quite often if you want to check my board occasionally. And yes, Punk, some of the pix are from our Forum's inspiration albums. Thought I should share the talent and creativity with Pinterest followers. Tho I need to look up names and give credit. I know one of the Val. pictures is Luv's. ;o) I see that the wonderful tablescape with the big bunnies down the middle was a hit with you guys too. I thought that was so neat, and the yarn was quite an interesting base for them. I tend to 'pin' cloche decor often as I do love that especially. (Punk, you need a mantel and a cloche!!) And no Candy, I don't want to disappoint Teegan. LOL. Heaven forbid. She's wearing a red blouse, does that count for Valentine's? ;o) (Fun2, you may have noticed a couple of us "ol gals" play with dolls. And we have Jeanne and her DollBaby to blame for it!! These pics make my day. Your pink roses are gorgeous. It seems so long to wait, but I'm thinking of all the excitement to come this spring. I would like to know more about Pink Rosette.

Celeste your roses are gorgeous.

I have Quadra and I highly reccomend it to anyone who wants a good stury red.

that Pink Rosette is a rose I could adore, first time seeing it.

I have Aloha on order for spring, thank goodness.

I think Quadra is an exceptional climbing rose. The bloom form is wonderful and the blooms last for a long time. The red is very vibrant. It blooms in nice clusters and the leaves are glossy and more importantly, very healthy. I have not had any disease whatsoever on my Quadra. It is also quite hardy and there aren't too many hardy climbers that repeat here.
Phyl, thanks for the compliments...you can come to my gardens anytime...er, well when there's something to see..LOL. Right now things look pretty pathetic, all brown and bare.
Jen, I am glad you like Pink Rosette (Valerie, too)...
it is such a charming rose and blooms its head off. It has large clusters of the cutest little rosettes you've ever seen...they are so perfect they don't look real. And the blooms last FOREVER....if you cut one of the big clusters, it will last over a week in a vase and still look fresh. The bush stays compact so its great for the front of a border or bed. Believe it or not, I STILL have a cluster of Pink Rosette on the bush out there right now!
Valerie...you have to try this one!

Celeste, your roses and lillies, glads and iris are all just so beautiful, and I enjoy every photo you post. I've been planting bulbs and daylillies like crazy for the last couple of weeks now and I got the first two hybrid roses ordered. Your photos are some of the first that set me deciding that I had to have some of the bigger roses:) Thanks so much for sharing. Leslie

Beautiful thankyou, thankyou! I loved your Countess Celeste - ummmm! and your lilies, glads and particularly the Japanese iris, bought some myself this year to go beside our pond - I hope they take over. :)
