Studying your pictures, Mary Lu, I don't think you would have enough space to use the rods in the link. Given your beautiful moldings they would give an updated look and still be very formal but the rods are 10" wide at minimum, which would mean 20" of coverage per window (Plus an additional 8" per rod to accommodate the finials). It doesn't look, to me, like there would be enough spacing between each window. You may, however, be able to find a rod with a smaller finial that would fit the space better. I just looked at the one on the same page as the link. If you went to this type rod, why wouldn't you be able to change out the window treatments seasonally? I think the rods you have are fine. I have known women who have used a rod similar to what you are using and they have glued on a faux finial to the bracket or the end of the rod to change the look a bit. Whatever you glue on there could be painted if need be to acheive the look you want. I've seen glass cabinet knobs, wooden balls, finials that are preformed for woodworking projects etc. I'll bet GE II silicone would hold a finial type thing on there. That's some great glue LOL! The paint color in your LR sounds delicious! and looks very nice with the upholstery in your furniture. In my living room I used Benjamin Moore 'Standish White'. It is a pale yellow which looks really lite and sunny with light pouring in through my 102" south facing window. But then on over cast days or at night when the lamps/lights are on it has just enough beige in it to make the room feel warm. It's really a pleasant color. Finding paint colors is hard because the same color will look different in every house depending on the lighting. LOL, I hope I'm not making this harder for you! MeMo

I'm sorry that trying to do a good deed has left you in this predicament. It sounds like you may not have been privy to what the vet said when he/she examined the dog. Did the woman who took the dog in share the details? Why I am asking is that I rescued a kitten from my front flower bed many years ago and she was lame in one of her front legs. When I took her in to the vet, he said she had brachial palsy. It's an injury an animal can get when the nerves of its brachial plexus is harmed in the birth process or even before. Short of really specialist nerve surgery with questionable outcomes there is nothing they can do for it other than hope the function returns on its own and my vet says nerve repair is very slow and he'd recommend 'sitting on it' to see if it doesn't start to heal on its own, reserving amputation as a last resort. He casted her leg but she kept getting repeat infections where the nails would grown into her flesh under the cast and eventually we had to amputate. Had she not had this problem just letting it dangle was an option. There is a chance this might have been the circumstances of this dog's leg, and if he was not used to being outside, three or four days of wandering is enough time for injuries, infections and tissue death to start. A vet should be able to ascertain how old those injuries are, however and probably a tech could as well. And how many really responsible and caring pet owners have raised questions on this board about skin conditions their dogs have and are resistant to treatment? I had a little lhasa whom I poured months and mega money into with horrible skin problems until my vet hit on the proper diagnoses and treated him with antibiotics. It was a resistant bacterial infection and had nothing to do with fleas or flea allergies or neglect. You don't know the circumstances. I know what I would do and it's a pity the new owner doesn't do it, and that is to contact the party who lost this dog, and tell them she has it and that she has already invested expenses into caring for it. If the new owner is so convinced that the dog had been abused then she should contact a humane officer and let them persue the issue or let her hash it out herself with the previous owners. Somebody needs to tell the people searching for this dog that it has been found and be upfront about it and they need to know its where it can be found and it doesn't have to be anonymously. The person who took this animal has been around long enough to know the routine and take responsibility for their actions even if they were legitimate and for all the right reasons. You don't need to feel guilty about finding it a home, nor obliged to the woman who took it in. But it isn't fair to the owners to never know what happened to it. If you got a flyer in your mail box then they are actively looking for it and they wouldn't be if it isn't valuable or they didn't give a flying fig. Tell them where you took it and let the lady who has it do what she feels is right. There isn't any need to be secretive to avoid anything. What is right isn't always what is easiest. If she can prove the animal has been abused or neglected, the authorities can sort it out.

OK I tried a variety of borders and I like them all!! LOL!! Really the blue was nice and cooled down the quilt so that was nice. The small pink boarder with the dark green outer also toned it down while tying things together. The recipients sister stopped by and said her sister would love the pink as a wide border since you can really see the orange leaves in the pink when its cut wider. I sewed it together last night and it looks great. I'll have to take a photo in the sun as the colors are looking brighter online than their deep jewel tones IRL. I also forgot to take a pic after I finished the border since it was so late. I"ll pin baste it today after work and be sure to take another pic so hopefully the true colors can come across, the pink with the orange leaf work batik is really beautiful. P.S. Not sure if you are calling the original plan A or if the first one modified is Plan A. I will make my comments about the two modifications. I like the FIRST modified plan, except I think you need to move that bedroom door for "girl" down the hall. If that child is not a person to clean their room nicely, then that will be about the first thing that visitors see. Guests can see the door to the bath in that one, no mistaking whether it is in use before they get to the point of turning the knob, cuz it shows if open. I do like the two baths back to back, for economy in plumbing. One day down the road, you might consider putting a little powder room where that laundry room closet is. You have the space available from the garage area. Now, I notice in both plans that you have a pair of double doors at the back of the garage. Do you have a riding lawnm0wer/tractor to drive in that side? Is that going to be walled off from the car parking spaces? Looks really good, and that area can be reached from the far end of the deck. Your deck is quite sizeable, so if you are looking for any space in the living room, a really short bumpout. However, that would involve roofline changes and also no straight wall through the LR and garage which might be a load bearing situation.
