November Roses

Here are some pictures from roses that have been blooming in my garden this month. Hope you like them!

Memorial Day. This rose is producing one perfect flower after the other. It has a very strong pleasing fragrance, too, and no disease problems at all in my yard. Highly recommended!

Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux 1. My favorite Tea rose. I love how the petals scroll back neatly.

Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux 2. A little bit more open and in a different light.

Pink Pet. Very floriferous.

Pretty Jessica. Also a very productive rose for me. Great scent.

Christopher Marlowe.

Bud of Bewitched.

Pope John Paul II, has produced his biggest blooms so far this autumn.

Bud of Belinda's Dream.

Unidentified Rose, could be Sutter's Gold, though. The only yellow-orange rose that I have. It has been producing very big flowers for a cutting that just has recently rooted and the fragrance is wonderful.

Bewitched. Another Rose that is pumping out one perfectly formed flower after the other that come with a very strong fragrance. She mildewed a lot the first year, but is surprisingly clean now.

As I look in our rose garden and see dead blooms and
the nakedness they are started to take on.

It is a real pleasure to see your roses and how great your blooms look into November!

Wow!! Those are spectacular roses. I'm torn between jealously (small part) and contentedness, drool factor and pure pleasure. You've made my birthday!!!

Carrie, I don't know about that. I get more failures than successes, but you have to keep trying. I read where even the pros get only 50% success rates. Some varieties are definitely easier to root than others. Right now I'm cooking up willow water (Omar will probably call it 'witches brew') to soak the cuttings of the wonderful roses I got from Kathy's garden. Not one to put all my eggs in one basket I'll try to root some of them at home and take the rest to Hill Country Gardens propagation class where we'll have use of their mist system. PJ, rosequeen? Christina, these pictures are superb! Really great photography and beautiful roses. My favorite pictures are of Pink Pet, Pretty Jessica and Christopher Marlowe. All your roses look absolutely perfect. Great job!

Beautiful blooms! PRETTY JESSICA is gorgeous! I probably still have some blooms hanging on out there, but it's been raining the last few days, so I haven't even bothered to check. Thanks for brightening my evening!!

Jim, I really hear you. I am not looking forward to the time when even in Southern California we will have no roses at all anymore. I am glad my photos have been giving you some pleasure.

bustopher, Christopher Marlowe is a tremendously changeable rose, depending on the season, water, fertilizer etc. I wouldn't say that mine is a particular typical photo of this rose. If you go to HMF I am sure the photos of Christopher Marlowe there will give you a more accurate idea.

Beth, Pretty Jessica is simply a very pretty rose and easy to photograph. Here it rained on the weekend, too, and I cut everything that was blooming for vases indoors. So not much left out there in my yard either. The rose season will come undeniable to an end soon.

Gaahhh!!! OLOG is stunning!!! It's fragrant too, isn't it? Thanks for the birthday picture!! I appreciate it the temperature today is -40C (-40F) including wind chill. So seeing such beautiful pictures is really, really nice. :)

Carol, you are welcome! I hope that you had a wonderful birthday. Our Lady of Guadalupe is only slightly fragrant to my nose. I grow her more for her wonderful pink flowers with a silvery sheen. Wow, -40 C/-40 F, that is really cold!
