Seed spacing woes

ShenValleyJoe

I started my SFG last year, populating it with purchased starts. Everything was very cool.

This spring, I planted some seeds, carefully spacing the seeds in the square. Then the rains came, and my careful spacing went out the window! Squares have sprouts bunched up in one corner of the square, or pushed all together.

How do you maintain the spacing while the seeds are sprouting? I'm thinking of a square of newspaper or landscape fabric placed over the square to keep the spring showers from moving the seeds around. Any better ideas, or do you worry about it?
