Wintering potted lavender

I'm new to gardening and I'm living in a second-floor apartment, so everything I've got is in a pot. Last night there was a frost warning, so I grabbed my baby lavender off the balcony and brought it in. I'm not sure what's best for it over the winter. It was planted sometime in spring, definitely not before the last frost as recommended on the seed packet. The stem has gotten somewhat woody, but it's still pretty small. There were some large plants in 7a when I was in school that did well in the ground over the winter, but I'm assuming this little guy will need to stay inside. Do I need to try to bring it in gradually, perhaps setting it out during the day for a while? Should I put it by the sliding glass door where the other pots live, or do I need to try to find a cooler spot (that will necessarily get less light)? Any special winter care recommendations?

Thanks, and looking forward to this forum,

Lali
