Hello All! Thanks for the great suggestions! Had to go ahead with it. I've added a lot of extra drainage holes to the pots with a drill, no fertilizer, and no tonics. Screen at the bottom, and the pots sit on gravel filled saucers. I was very gentle loosening the root ball to minimize transplant shock, and mixed some of the original soil with the new. I did use the Kelloggs mix, but with no pumice amendments. Not meaning to sound like an advert, lol, but it seemed a better choice than the other "big 3" of commercial mixes-and I have no room to make my own. It is an "all natural outdoor potting mix", "combining good drainage with moisture retention". It seems to be fine bark /rice hull based. It's very coarse, and drains more quickly than any other potting mix I've ever used. Hopefully they will like it. Treating them like a rosemary may have been too harsh, so hopefully respectable soil, good drainage, and just a bit more watering will do it! I imagine tho they may be evergreen here, they will probably go dormant during the winter and the hottest part of summer. I chose Provence (fabulous aromatic foliage) and Madrid Purple for more heat tolerance than the English types. Al, Kate, Digging-Thanks again!

Wilting of the leaves on lavender is probably a little too dry. Again depends on variety whether it shows wilt from water-stress easily. Provence doesn't show water stress well in my experience and does better in a gallon or larger sized pot for me. The media(potting soil) plays a key role in container culture and I suggest going to the container forum and read about the many myths of container culture and why we fail or have success this way. In z7 provence should be ok but if you have wet winters this can be very challenging as it tends to get crown rot easily. Does the same in humid hot weather as well like I have in Texas sometime years. A raised mound or bed will help your lavender thru this most the time. Also I suggest using pea gravel or crushed granite instead of a (organic(wood leaves bark)mulch) as this helps keep the crown and lower leaves drier and lessens the chance of rot and fungal problems during wet periods. They can handle freezes in a container but if it gets in the teens for many hours it may be a problem for the roots to uptake water and so some protection of the container during these periods would be my advise(insulate the root area). Not sure what a zone is. I'm located in Myrtle Beach SC, my balcony is on the second floor, open, and faces in between North and East. Getting I think a little morning sun. My lavender along with my rosemary, & aloe are doing great... my lavender is in a pot, I used potting soil, my leaves are starting to loose the lustrous look, and at the base they are dying off. Am I suppose to pull of the leaves, or break off branches, or prune it in some way to keep my plant full and lively? It doesn't look sick or like its dying, but I feel as though there might be something i can do to improve and/or extend its vibrant bushiness. What is the best way if I want to take from the bush to use it's leaves ? For winter should I bring it in If I don't have windows that it can sit in? Do I leave it out? Is there a way I need to treat it during the winter? Thank you-

Several days later, the plant seems to be dormant. It still has several green branches, and it appears the dying off has stopped. I'm so glad it seems my plant was just going through a "mid-life crisis" lol. Thanks again for all of your input, westelle! --Jordan
