butterflymaiden's post makes me think that there must be so many unknown blooms out there that are so beautiful, and so mysterious. I'd love to see your unknowns. Here's my most beautiful, crazily beautiful, unknown. It was sold to me as Marechal Neil. So far, it appears to be a once bloomer, but it could be because it's still young.

Mike, I find with the Ang. distichium that I have to take the plant out of the tank an hold it fairly close to catch a whiff. HOWEVER, there were only two tiny flowers (a really well grown plant can have many more in bloom at once) which may be a contributing factor. Furthermore, flowers of this genus are mainly if not exclusively fragrant at night. (This genus is usually pollinated by moths.) The fact that I didn't open the terrarium during the night to check most certainly was an issue. I do indeed have several Hoya. Used to have 5 but gave away H. motoseki as it was growing far far to rampantly for my space (and the flowers looks almost identical to carnosa which I also have) and lost another Hoya (can't remember the species name off the top of my head) when a coworker I had loaned it to took it with her when our place of employment closed and she took it home with her. Currently have carnosa, DS70, and mindorensis. The latter has stubbornly refused to do more growth-wise than give me the occasional leaf -- VERY rare event. (Wish the dumb thing would get its act together and grow!) I have found that -- at least in DS70's case -- the fragrance of the flowers is different at different times of day. Shuffles, that is most certainly a Dendrobium ... a nobile-type to be a bit more precise.

This is the bench in my front bed. I'm amazed at the difference in the front garden. I took this pic early spring '06 before I started planting that bed. Now it's filling up. Here is an old church pew that is on my kitchen porch. Note the cat beds underneath and the cat in the rocking chair to the left. That cat is a feral cat that has adopted my porch and brings his children with him! My husband makes fun of this bench, that it is so small. I explained that the porch is only 4ft deep so this is what works. Of course he sits out there on that bench so it can't be that bad. Annette

Allium Christophi I love Allium too. I have Purple Sensation, Mount Everest and Globemaster as well as Christophi which is a favourite. The picture definitely does not do it justice. My Globemaster seems to be diminishing over the last few years, maybe it needs division. Yours is gorgeous! I notice your Azureum is growing with Solomon Seal, is that a shady spot? I'm looking at Atropurperium to add to the garden this year, love the dark burgundy color.

Wow I really like that cream veranda. I hope chamblees offers it next year so I can get it . They have such good prices I love to ask for gift cards for Christmas there and load up. I also planted a plum perfect , it had one bloom open when I was away in Florida and has one more getting ready ! I can't wait !!

This was sold to me as "Summer Fashion", but I think it may be Kordes Perfecta. It's an excellent rose for me. Lots of blooms all summer.

This is my unknown. Know that it is a hybrid tea and pink. Cut one bloom and it had 20 petals.

I couldn't resist this heavenly smelling, unlabeled, white-touched-pink rose 2 springs ago at Home Depot.
This is how it looks today ~~ much pinker in fall! And I can't smell it at all!
It's normally a one day wonder. 3 days if the temps. are cool.
It's not Secret or Pristine. And the spring foliage is atrocious. Rust, mildew, you name it. The next set of foliage is perfect the rest of the season.

I have this beauty from my neighbor. The rose was dying in her garden this past spring. Had absolutely no feeding roots when I dug it out. There was no growth from the bud union but the bud union did not look dead.
I planted 'it' in large pot and shortly after that was rewarded with this gorgeous rose. Right now it is about 4' high and 4' wide. Lots and lots of canes and the blooms just keep coming.
Awesome rose. I don't have slightest idea what is this rose, my only guess is that it is some kind of OGR.

Wow, you all have some beautiful nameless roses. Trivoli rose--if you hadn't told me, I would have sworn that those pictures were of three roses.

Dark lady, bet that rose knew that you just love roses. What a reward for saving that rose.

Gee all those roses look great. But I don't have a clue as to what you have.
