Hi GWTamara,

Please restore the Hoya FAQ, had valuable & often requested info. A fellow contributor made both time & effort to make the FAQs, I referred someone there last week, only to be told the FAQs are no longer there. PUT THEM BACK PLEASE!!!

Not only that, but when one clicks onto Ask the Experts & they take credit for their 'Staff' when actually older GW members know full well that WE, the contributing membership, are the ones who wrote the FAQs & staff didn't have squat to do w/ anything other than maybe getting it up uploaded.

In what way is pirate_girl reading too much into it? People spend their precious time contributing their valuable insight into a specific forum that they are experts on, only to not only have others take credit, but also to arbitraily delete it without so much as a fair-thee-well. I think pirate_girl is right on target and I'd like an answer from the person(s)who made this decision.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that Nazanine, the author of the Hoya FAQs, removed the material in protest over changes in GW policies.

pins2006: pirate is reading to much into it because she does not know if any of the staff did contribute to any of FAQ's or not. If they did her complaint is missed place. If Karen is correct and the author of the FAQ deleted it, her complaining about gardenwebs conduct in this matter is also missed placed.
So basically I suggest you start committee to write new FAQ on the subject.

The fact that GW allows authors to delete their own FAQ page is a sign of respect, in my opinion. This has happened on several forums I visit.

I myself have written a number of FAQ items (on the New England Gardening Forum) and all of them say "Entered by claire (or Claire)". As jonnyzith says, we don't know if any of the GW staff contributes to some of the FAQ's. Or maybe some of the contributors have even gone to work for GW.

I feel that I have gotten proper credit for my work, and the standard blurb doesn't offend me at all.

Well, I'm late coming back here, but to clarify: I knew that those FAQs were written by contributors ONLY (thought but wasn't sure I recalled by whom). Turns out I was right, what I HADN'T known was that she herself withdrew them (thx Karen715 for clarifying that). If that's the case, I'll say nevermind. Perhaps GW could have placed a note where the FAQs had been advising something like "sorry, FAQ's been removed by its (their) author(s)."

When IVillage first bought this site they made a statement that any content or pictures placed here were their private property and they could use it at any time any way they see fit even if it was already here. A lot of people resented that and took anything they had here off. I also do not agree that they should be able to have ownership of everyone here's pictures or content.
