I agree, a bean forum would be a good idea. It would be a place I could find out about those Soldier Beans I just planted, instead of counting on getting lucky and finding GardenLad.

Even though I'm a beanaholic, as many of you know, that's perhaps too limiting a subject. Maybe it should be broadened out to include all edible legumes? That way we could include things like garden peas, peanuts, lentils, garbanzos, and so on.

Good idea, a legume forum. I'd definitely participate.

Although I believe that beans is a large subject unto itself, it makes sense to include all legumes. That way we don't face the problem such as plants which are called peas in one region and beans in another.

Legume's it is. French horticulture beans for all, if only I could figure out why they are sending out so many vines but not setting any beans. Wait, getting ahead of myself, not a forum to post this to yet.

I think a legume forum is a grand idea. Beans, peas, maybe even the odd green manure post.

Heck, with such a forum maybe someone could even figure out why my snow peas inevitably go yellow from the soil up like clockwork year after year. ;-)

Maybe someone would be able to comfort me as I wage unholy war against Mexican Bean Beetles.

Maybe someone could come up with a pole bean trellis system that takes up little garden real estate, the plants won't overgrow it and it's easy to harvest from. Nah, that would be asking too much.

Still, I would enjoy the forum and would participate from time to time and read more often.

Count me in too! I'm trying a couple of new bean varieties (to me) this year. It would be nice to know more about them.

For the record, I will enter my vote of support. Legumes become more fascinating to me each season. I am on what appears will be a long exploration of their horticultural and culinary qualities. I look forward to many discussions with members of the anticipated "Legumes" forum.

I like the simple approach of calling it the Beans Forum.

Mention legumes to even most experienced gardeners and they think of peas. Mention legumes to a farmer and he'll think of clover, alfalfa, vetch, etc. In my gardens, if I told someone that I'm growing 25 varieties of legumes, they'd look at me rather funny. That's what I'm doing with 2 "English" peas, 22 beans, and a cowpea! I don't think that those 2 peas should even be considered as part of the other 23. So, lobby for a Bean Forum.

Melina and I have been bean enthusiasts for a number of years now and funnily enough, our love for beans actually brought us together.

So we are all for a bean forum!!

We believe it is such a great idea that like-minded intellectuals can discuss all types of beans especially because we want to get to know the bean-loving community.

It has bean, really difficult to find a good bean-loving community where people take their passion for beans seriously and don't just make fun of us for it. We wholeheartedly believe this forum is full of people who love beans as much as us.

This is such a fantastic community and thank you all so much for making our bean dreams come true.

It looks like this bean forum drizzled out a while back, which is too bad.

Perhaps the difficulty of manuvering around the site had something to do with it. I really struggle with Houzz.

If you read this, I just found a site www.abeancollectorswindow.com that has a huge selection of beans, telling some history on many. But maybe you've heard of it. Anyway I'm obsessed with bean growing now!

The Bean Forum really slowed down during the transition to Houzz, when much of the swap functionality disappeared & many long-time posters left for greener pastures. Which is a shame, because the Bean Forum was very active for awhile. Still a few of us lurking here; but when the exchange lists (which had been searchable) were no longer accessible, much of the interest died down. Yes, I know about that link; the site owner & I actively post elsewhere.
