Looking for a Z8 TX shade low-wtr plant

A friend of mine purchased a new home and asked for ideas on what Zone 8 plants to put in one difficult spot.

The front of his house faces west and has an 2x2' corner area where he does not know what to plant. There is just bare soil in there right now.

On the west/east sides of this corner, he has concrete walls. On the south side he has a another wall with a tall 5' high 1-2' wide glass rectangular window. On the north side, this corner is open. There are some hawthorns & small hollies already planted outside of this corner.

What Zone 8 (Dallas, Texas) shade plants would work well under this low light location? Also, I do not think his sprinkler system reaches this spot much so, just in case, the plant should be drought resistant.

Should I tell him to get a plastic plant perhaps? Hee hee hee... oh, lordy lordy...

Thanks for your suggestions. I will pass them along,

Luis
