Beans Beans Beans I have questions

dapper

I know I am going to grow peanut beans, these are a bush variety and as Tennesseens will say "The best bean they have ever had". I will probably grow some Cherokee Trail of Tears and maybe some half-runners.

My biggest question is how many plants should I grow. It is just my wife and myself, but the kids do come to visit quite often. I would probably give some to family members and I want to freeze or can some.

From what I am told about the peanut beans is to just pull the whole plant and go sit under a shade tree and pick em. These take 6 weeks to mature, I am thinking 3 plantings. I can get 6 plants per square (I know Mel says you can plant more but I had no luck last year with his plant spacing with any of my beans) that is 96 for a 4x4 box. Ok I love my beans. I just don't know how many bean plants it takes to make a meal for 2.

If you can help I would like to know how many bush and how many vine to plant or at least maybe a guideline to use.

Thanks
