Have questions about building trellis

Hi! I'm trying my first SFG this year & have some questions about a trellis.

1. Mel suggests electrical conduit - does he mean the galvanized pipes? I saw 10' lengths at Lowes & they can cut them down to size & thread them. Or is he talking about copper? Or something else?

2. Mel suggests 6' tall - that seems like it'll be way too short for tomatoes! I did a modified version of winding around a string last year (when they outgrew the cages, I tied string from the cage to my upper deck). Some of the tomatoes grew almost as high as that deck! So what happens when your tomatoes reach 6' on Mel's trellis? Should I try 8' instead?

3. Thinking of trying some pole beans, summer squash, cukes & melons on a trellis also. Again, questioning if 6' is tall enough for these. What has been your experience?

4. Mel recommends the twine for tomatoes to grow up, but netting for some other things. I'm unsure which of the veggies (see #3) should wrap around twine like tomatoes, and which would be better with netting?

Thanks for your advice on these matters!
