Comments (6)As to my knowledge, Timber bamboos can do very well in wet, damp soil and under dappled light. A few days of flood won't hurt them at all. But that was back in Vietnam I do not know the soil condition here can, in any way, affect their growth habit. Maybe some experienced folks in here can jump in and help answer your questions. Comments (1)You might like the Japanese Holly (ilex crenata)also called Boxleaf holly. I have it in several places in a good amount of shade, it receives morning sun until 10:30am, then is in fairly heavy shade (3 large gumball trees overhead), they are easy to keep small by pruning, and they also grow slow to moderate.
